Anxiously awaiting the 2022 album by Austin's Carson McHone, who just signed with Merge Records. It was produced by Daniel Romano and the first single is great
Angel Olsen will either be announcing or releasing new music tomorrow, so I’m definitely looking forward to that.
Obviously it is very early in the year but the first two releases I have added for the year I do like very much and would recommend each... Steven Bernstein's Millenial Territory Orchestra – Good Time Music (Community Music, Vol 2 Label: The Royal Potato Family – none Format: Qobuz ALAC, Download, Album Country: US Released: Jan 7, 2022 Genre: Jazz Carmen Gomes Inc. – Ray! Label: Sound Liaison – not on label Format: Qobuz ALAC, Download, Album Country: France Released: Jan 7, 2022 Genre: Jazz, Blues Style: Rhythm & Blues These are two, what I consider to be, relatively unknown artists each of whom I appreciate very much. This is my fourth Steven Bernstein album. The first two are from his Diaspora series. This one and the previous from his Millenial Territory Orchestra. This one introduces vocals and it is more R&B leaning but I think wonderful. With Carmen Gomes here voice is beautiful yet subtle as is the playing behind her. This is my third album by Carmen Gomes Inc., each is a celebration of another artist. This one is Ray Charles and the previous two for Robert Johnson and Harry Belefonte. I do recommend both artists and the works from them I have.
I was made aware of the band Lo Moon in the 2018 thread just when their debut was released. I listened to that album while driving across southern Norway on a beautiful winter day and became a fan. 4 years later the follow up finally arrives. Login • Instagram
I see that Midlake has released a video/single today - or it came across as a notification today. I need to check that out. Really enjoyed everything that band has put out so far - looking forward to the new album which I think is coming out sometime in the spring.
Great recommendations! What I miss from most of these best new music threads is descriptions of sound quality, especially loudness: I want to discover good sounding modern gems!
Well, with Ohio Slamboys, for example, it's pretty much understood that as a slam death metal band it's loud as f±℅k. Aside from that I make use of my volume knob as needed.
My faves so far for 2022. 1- Wilderun "Epigone" 2- Cat Power "Covers" 3- The Weeknd "Dawn FM" Artists in the queue (singles available for streaming for upcoming album releases in 2022) Abbath Amorphis Animals as Leaders Arch Enemy Envy of None Fontaines D.C.
