It's OK if people like different things.

The movie's biggest sin was being made during the Writers' Strike. It was pretty much over for the film even before it wrapped.

Definitely one of my favorite actors.

    I voted for:

Forrest Gump (it was huge for a reason, because it is an awesome flick)
    The Green Mile

Fighting it out for 3rd place would be:

    Cast Away
    Big
    A League of Their Own
    Philadelphia

And so many other good ones.

Even though it is considered a "chick flick," You've Got Mail is such a good one. And for corny 80's fun, gimme Dragnet!

I loved Tom in Punchline. It was the first time - aside from playing Uncle Ned on Family Ties - where Tom showed he could do comedy and serious drama.

Big and Punchline in the same year was really a trans-formative year for him.

I've tried watching 'Cloud Atlas' a couple of times, but I can't seem to get into it.
Your other 12 choices are top notch anyway! Gosh Hanks has done some great stuff.
No 'Turner and Hooch'? I saw that at the drive-in many moons ago.

I probably like Big and Bachelor Party the best.

I prefer goofy Tom Hanks to "serious" Tom Hanks. I little interest in anything with him in it after A League Of Their Own, but Catch Me If You Can and That Thing You Do were decent; probably because he wasn't the lead in either.

Yeah, I think we've discussed this before. I like a couple of the extra scenes a lot.

There's one, early in the movie, when the band is rehearsing in the garage and Lenny and Jimmy get into an argument over how to play one of the songs. That scene is really good and almost views like a documentary on a garage band.

There's another extra scene at the TV studio when Guy is trying to find their bass player, who's run off somewhere. Paul Pope's Primitive Primates are leaving the stage from their rehearsal and Guy stops to ask if the one can really play the bass.

It also fleshes out Guy's character and his relationship with Faye (especially that garage scene), and explains why he's carrying the big armful of tapes when he gets back to the hotel at the end of the movie.

  19. Another for "Cast Away" and "Saving Private Ryan".

Fortunately he has been part of many good movies so the list is pretty full regardless of what you choose.

I love pretty much everything he is in, but have a special soft spot for TTYD. Second choice was very tough, but I voted for The Green Mile, but could easily have gone for Forrest Gump. I also really like Bridge of Spies and Big was magical (I recently re-watched it for the first time in many years).

I'll never forget my theatrical screening of "Green Mile". During the botched execution scene, a woman in the audience completely lost it. She wailed and cried at an extreme volume level and had to leave the theater.

In all my years of movie-going, I've never seen someone react that strongly! It was nuts!

    Michael I LOVE WIDE S-T-E-R-E-O!

If you look at Cloud Atlas as all the characters are one soul it becomes quite interesting...Turner & Hootch, yes...
