wow..didn't know that........i was hoping that the 1 show would have had some liner notes.....none.....
I go to many estate sales. Now and then, I come across unopened bottles of whiskey. I never could understand having an unopened bottle of whiskey. But unopened Bear Family box sets, that is tough. Running your fingernails through the plastic wrap to open a Bear Family box is one of the greatest feelings that you can experience. My best days are behind me. You still have some coming.
That is the Anthology of American Folk Music, a collection of vintage 1920's/1930's roots music. NOT a Bear Family set. It goes along stylistically with The Carter Family etc, but also has blues.
Well I didn't start the day off thinking I must pick up The Osborne Brothers first BF set but when fate sticks a copy in front of you there's not much you can do but welcome it into the fold.
I think I've bought all the box sets that I've been interested in so now I can finally start saving and eat some delicious foods!
My method of saving money was to eat the old beat up records that I upgraded in the Bear Family boxes. 45RPMs were good for vitamins, but LPs gave you more protein. My high school friend used to say: "If music be the food of love, I'll have some."
A rerelease of a classic live album by George Jones: George Jones And The Jones Boys - Live In Texas 1965 (CD) | Bear Family Records
Its an Ace release, I’ve got the original. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Live-Dancetown-USA-George-Jones/dp/B0000009FR This is the new one, haven’t compared but if it’s the same one it’s great fun. I’ll probably buy it again anyway, sigh... Live In Texas 1965
I'm just wondering about the "Jerry Lee Lewis Live At The Star Club 1964" CD. Why no liner notes? I mean, it is Bear Family. And they are one of the greatest labels around. So, why no liner notes? This was/is a single CD, maybe released in the 80's?......Anyone have any info? It doesn't really matter, in the long run, but I was just wondering, cuz, every other Bear Family I have, has liner notes...
It was one of Bear Family's first CD releases, and compared to what other labels were doing it was still extraordinary (look at the EMI Beatles CDs from around the same time). BF only explored the digipac-with-booklet format in the 1990s.
