I just checked my order again. Order placed on August 19, the shipping status still says that the shipping label was printed on August 25, but it still hasn’t made it to the post office. Once again this is normal speed for Oldies.com. Keep this in mind in December when they have their huge Christmas sale. Even if you order December 1, you won’t get your stuff before Christmas.
Oh come on GBTT you can't throw around tantalising imagery of Nashville legends in swimsuits and not actually share the photo.
Remember, the politics of the US Post Office is slowing orders considerably. I have first class mail coming in from 150 miles away that has taken two weeks from postmark cancellation. 100 years ago, the post office was committed to great service.
I never thought I would see my name on the back of a CD cover (Jim Reeves Twelve Songs Of Christmas Expanded Edition) placed directly between two men I admire so much, Chet Atkins and Battery Studios remastering engineer, Vic Anesini. It seems very surreal for someone who does not make a regular living in the music business.
Went through that Wynn Stewart box like a hot knife through butter. A couple standout things for me; Wynn stayed true to what we know as the Bakersfield Sound, possibly longer than other Bakersfield artists. Even his work recorded in Nashville, really avoided some of the more overt Nashville Sound characteristics. There's two instrumental tracks that really standout; "Spittin' Guitar" and "Orange Blossom Special." The guitar and steel solos are right on the money. Everyone and their aunt has cut a rendition of "Orange Blossom Special", but for me this version really brings that Bakersfield Sound home.
Wanda Jackson - Right Or Wrong boxset, BCD 15 629 DI, was this repressed again? I see two different colored covers available.
I had the day off yesterday and spent like 4 hours reading this thread from start to finish! Thanks so much to everyone that has contributed here, it's amazing how far my musical tastes have evolved due to all of the recommendations and reviews I have read here throughout the last 4 years. (My bank account has totally different opinions about all of you). When I first found this forum/thread, I was strictly country music....today I am waiting for the Eddie Cochran set to come in the mail.....I even have the Piano Red box set in my collection now which would have been unheard of a few years ago.
Does that set have the album he did with the Lewis Family? They do a great version of "No Hiding Place" which I would love to have on cd.
I think the Lewis Family LP was around 1965 for Starday and the Bear Set ends with his 1959 recordings.
Indeed, both BF's Carl Story set and Starday's two-disc Lewis Family collection end before reaching that 1966 album. Two of the songs appear on this Gusto release: https://www.amazon.com/Somebody-Touched-Me-Carl-Story/dp/B000040OCZ/

Slowly going through my first box of Bear CDs I received from the Oldies.com sale and enjoying each one immensely as I listen and savor. Bear does such a great job with their releases with books or booklets jam packed with photos and information and track listings filling up the CD giving the buyer true value for their money. Thank you very much for the recommendation on the other Hank CD. I really appreciate it. That has gone onto my want list as a must buy.
That's interesting.... I wonder if they found a stash of them or are genuinely reprinting? This one they pressed a few years back is hands down the 'winner' of the two. The audio fidelity is amazing! on this.
