The only two boxes I've gone for due to financial restrictions over the years, are Lefty Frizzell on vinyl and the first Johnny Horton on cd,love them both and I have several single cd releases including Tompall Glaser and John Loudermilk, everyone a gem.

John D. Loudermilk is great. You never know if he's serious or tongue in cheek. Mostly the latter.

So far Bear Family has released 3 CDs with John D Loudermilk.
2 with RCA recordings,if only Bear Family could release the rest of the RCA recordings on CD.

I’ve never heard him but I have seen his name on writing credit for other artists I listen to. I always think it’s one of the Louvin brothers because that’s their real last name!

He had a gentler and simpler approach to singing than most of his contemporaries.

Yes, and George Hamilton IV recorded quite a few of Loudermilk's songs. I sometimes wonder why David Houston never recorded any of Loudermilk's work. Hamilton, Loudermilk and Houston have similar voices.

I’m playing Warren Smith to a group of toddlers having play time. I work in a community center a couple days a week. I don’t think any of them are particularly into Warren except for my 3 year old. I’m happy I can play whatever music I want! Lately it’s been a lot of Western swing and hillbilly boogie

Been digging into the Roy Acuff box received for my birthday this week. What really surprised me is the stylistic variety of the material. Alongside the Appalachian music he's remembered for, Roy and his Smoky Mountain Boys tried their hands at almost-western-swing, a bluesy honky-tonk number or two, early country crooner fare, and a risqué 78 issued under the moniker of "The Bang Boys".

(No idea why this uploader added "New Lost City" to the group name.)

They're certainly getting a musical education!

Finally got around to picking up the Frankie Miller 3 disc set Blackland Farmer. I've had the King CD of the same name for awhile, just needed to make the upgrade.

I recently acquired a fairly nice copy of this LP. Frankie Miller is definitely under-appreciated and there are some GREAT songs from the Starday era!

Sure miss seeing @Mychael and @The Killer on this thread.

With so much music and Bear Family products to talk about and explore, it’s too wasteful to talk about anything else….now we all lose out because of it.

Just saw a new “That’ll Flat Git It” and a Charlie McCoy disc posted for January release. I have also heard rumors of a 2 disc Bill Carter set coming soon.
