Poll gives the misleading impression that there are three Can albums that are miles better than all the rest.
I found this to be quite Can-like, Fanger & Schönwälder (featuring Ülbrich, Lutz) from their "Analog Overdose 5" album...
Yes, it lets you change your vote. I changed mine to Soundtracks because that's my favorite at the moment.
I like Soundtracks too, but my favourite does not change easily. I just wanted to vote for the same album twice.
If the whole of Soundtracks was as good as Soul Desert, Mother Sky and She Brings The Rain it could be right up there.
Jaki Liebezeit: Life, Theory and Practice of a Master Drummer Mine is Ege Bamyasi though the single collection and disc 2 of the lost tapes receive heavy rotation. Above is a link to a self funding publishing site for an autobiography on Jaki Liebezeit who for me made Can that extra bit special.
The lesson to be learnt here is never post after a night shift. Still while at work I found this.....
Landed gets played more than most now as I overplayed Future Days in the past. Always liked Landed, though. Just bought Cannibalism III.
What an awesome thread we have here! Can't believe I never got on this before. "Can" have been one of my favorite bands since the early 70's. I still listen to their music in heavy rotation and am very lucky that they are one of my wife's favorite bands as well. My top 5 would be...1) Ege Bamyasi 2) Future Days 3) Tago Mago 4) Monster Movie 5) Soon Over Babaluma...but just love all of their amazing sounds/music! Was just jamming 'Lost Tapes" yesterday. Always love cranking "Millionenspiel" to it's fullest potential. Crazy good song! Had most of their vinyl when I was young, then had to support my sons, did the right thing. Only vinyl by them I have now is The Singles...but what I was fortunate enough to get are both Japanese Mini Sleeve box sets. The first one I got is a giant replica Okra can with full size slip style lid that houses Monster Movie through Landed, but also includes a copy of Unlimited Edition as well as alternate covers to Tago Mago and Soundtracks. Easily my favorite Japanese box set. My other one is the Delay 1968 replica box that houses Delay 1968, FM, SD, Can, and RT. The sound quality of these are excellent and both sets came with bonus OBI strips... Have enjoyed reading all of the posts here, one of my favorite threads!
