I love most of their songs, but "Ten Years Gone" would be my favourite. The second favourite is harder to pick. "Achilles Last Stand", "When The Levee Breaks", "That's The Way" ? ... too hard. What's your favourites?
Hard for me to create a top ten or something like that, so instead here are my 15 favourites in chronological order: Babe I'm Gonna Leave You Dazed And Confused Whole Lotta Love Thank You Ramble On Immigrant Song Since I've Been Loving You Rock'N'Roll Stairway To Heaven Going To California When The Levee Breaks The Rain Song Over The Hills And Far Away Kashmir Ten Years Gone No real favourites from Presence, In Through The Out Door, and Coda...
Love them all Top 5 off the top of me head Friends Achilles Down by the seaside When the levee breaks The Rain Song
Bron yr aur, because it's my favourite Zeppelin song to play on my acoustic. I like the tuning as well.
My top five (and have been for the longest time): 1. Song Remains The Same 2. Rain Song 3. Black Dog 4. What Is And What Should Never Be 5. Friends
By album... I: Babe I'm Gonna Leave You II: The Lemon Song III: Since I've Been Loving You IV: Stairway to Heaven Houses: The Song Remains the Same PG: Kashmir Presence: ? Out Door: Fool in the Rain
I forgot the "The Rain Song"! That would be my second favourite. Especially the version on The Song Remains The Same live album. I like your list.
My top 5: Babe I'm Gonna Leave You Whole Lotta Love Stairway To Heaven Over The Hills and Far Away Trampled Under Foot
The only Led Zep I have is the Early Days/Latter Days compilation. I’ve been flamed on here before for saying how thin it sounds. The other day, though, my iPod threw up Rock and Roll and it absolutely rocked, even if the bass was nowhere near prominent enough. More stuff like that, and I’d be a convert.
Confining it to a Top Ten only: When The Levee Breaks The Immigrant Song Kashmir Misty Mountain Hop The Lemon Song Babe I’m Gonna Leave You For Your Life The Wanton Song Bron-y-Aur Stomp Tea For One What a belting album that would be, for me anyway. I’m gonna burn it now!
Not a huge Zeppelin fan but there's a buncha their songs I really like... 'Ramble On', ' That's The Way', 'Immigrant Song', 'Friends' , 'Black Dog', When The Levee Breaks'....others. Not a fan of slow Zep blooze though. That stuff dulls me out.
Top 10 1) Achilles Last Stand 2) Stairway To Heaven 3) What Is And What Should Never Be 4) The Rover 5) Over The Hills And Far Away 6) Gallows Pole 7) When The Levee Breaks 8) Nobody's Fault But Mine 9) Whole Lotta Love 10) Communication Breakdown ...but 10 tracks is way too short for Zep.
Funny thing perhaps: I was born in 1993, never really heard all that much 1970s music, and discovered Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd fairly simultaneously, but only when I went to university (starting in 2012). Now, about 8 years later, I feel like overall I prefer The Floyd, especially for their most iconic albums, but I also feel like Led Zeppelin were a little more consistent over the course of their first six albums (1969-1975). I guess I prefer Pink Floyd's absolute highs (Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here as full albums, plus parts of Animals and The Wall), while I greatly respect the sheer number of great albums and songs from LedZep and enjoy them a lot even though I listen to them only casually. I'll always cherish my double RL LZ 2 though, what a thunderous album, and this great forum actually set me out on the hunt for that treasure!
Well, the beauty (and the testament to the group's craft for quality) is that there is no such thing as a bad Led Zeppelin song! Unless we now all believe that there is such a thing as a "bad sunset" or a "bad orgasm"... Yet my two personal favorites have always been connected: The Song Remains The Same The Rain Song
Side 3 of Physical Graffiti. The most perfect side of music ever. Ten Years Gone is their greatest song. Rain Song Four Sticks That’s The Way Bron-y-Aur Stomp Friends
When The Levee Breaks definitely! Serious contenders: In My Time Of Dying Ramble On Ten Years Gone Sick Again
What's the tuning on that one? I learned to play "The Rain Song", but the tuning is pretty weird, and either I have to dedicate a guitar to it, or go through this big tuning ordeal everytime I want to play.
