Those times the vocalist pops out a random interjection in the song. Maybe it's to introduce a guitar solo, maybe it's just because it's in and it's got to come out, but it works and it adds a little something to the song.

    What dig you?

    My first submission...

Roy Wood's 'Oh, Yissss' into the guitar solo and later 'Good **** Man!' during The Move's Turkish Tram Conductor Blues...

Steven Stills on the studio track Southern Cross, when he precedes the vocals (Think about, I have been around the world, etc) and also in the same song, at around 3:33 after the second time he sings, “And you know it will”, someone, I think Graham Nash, says, “yes”.

Rod Stewart in “Stay With Me”- “guitar!”

Mick Jagger in “Gimme Shelter” after Merry Clayton’s voice breaks- “wooo!”

Keith Richards (? Sounds like him) at the end of “Brown Sugar”- “yeeeeh.”

? in “Sweet Virginia”- “Far out.”

Those are the first that come to mind...

Of course Roger Daltrey's scream in 'Won't Get Fooled Again.'
Phil May in 'Lost That Girl' yells 'help me find her, Dick' before Dick Taylor rips into his guitar solo.
Rod Stewart in 'Stay With Me' yells 'guitar' to Ron Wood.
Ringo Starr in 'Honey Don't' yells 'rock on, George, for Ringo one time' before Harrison goes into his solo.
Nick St. Nicholas (I think) says 'I don't understand this' in a falsetto followed by a laugh at the beginning of 'What Would You Do (If I Did That To You).'

1.ELVIS / Reconsider Baby (1960)...remains my #1, just prior to his band soaring off on their 1st instrumental break & Elvis says "play the Blues boys" & after sax man Boots Randolph finishes his 1st solo & Elvis eggs Boots & band into a 2nd break with "yeah one more time" ...

Not only is Boots sax solo the greatest in RocknRoll history but "Reconsider Baby" is also the greatest piece of Burlesque music ever...

I have a spiritual moment every time I play it

2.Otis Redding...every embellished moment on his entire catalog

    3.James Brown...same as Otis Redding

4.The 5 Royales ...whooping it up in the background during their most rocking early 1950s Apollo sides, Gene Vincent copied this during his Blue Cap era

4.Gene Vincent & Blue Caps...the moments guitarist Cliff Gallup cuts loose & the boys begin shouting praises, the Beatles copied this on their earliest recordings

5.The moment Iggy interjects "Yeah my man!" during Asheton lighting up his fuzzed guitar assaults for "No Fun", simply devastating

6.Morrison shouting "do it Lonnie!" to guest guitarist Lonnie Mack's bass work on "Roadhouse Blues"

7.Elvis Costello & his 65-66 era Dylan-esque vomitific vocal assaults during the entire "I'm Not Agry" tune

7 preferences off the top of my head

There's that perfectly barked little "yeh!" before the verse in Till The End Of The Day by the Kinks -- it's just so totally Kinks the way he does it.

    Love the question.
    1. Paul Simon Kodachrome. Toward the end, at the beginning of the closing instrumental bit, Simon blurts out "OK". A big hit for all of us at the bar almost 50 years ago.
    2. Lou Reed Rock n Roll Animal live album Heroin (one of the greatest ever live songs) Somewhere in the middle, during a quiet musical lull, a voice in the audience screams out as clear as a bell on the recording. A friend told me he knows the guy whose voice that is. Who knows if that's true. But, I like the thought. Who would even think to make that up?
