Think I wrote that in a similar thread before: I'd start the show with Chicago's 'Introduction'.

I would love to host a cowpunk / rockabilly / Americana / classic punk show and my first song would this gem from the Blasters, Border Radio.

This literally was the first song I ever played as a DJ. It set the mood quite nicely, I felt...

Grade 11. Lunch hour dance (shag, as we called it).

A whole bunch of fun dance songs that I can’t remember, but I do recall two non dancy ones...Feels Like the First Time and Take the Long Way Home.

For what it’s worth, my first song as a DJ (not on the radio, but a party) was “Midnight To Six Man” by The Pretty Things.

john lennonist There ONCE was a NOTE, PURE and EASY...

Can't remember exactly what the first song was on my first College Radio gig many moons ago, but I do know that one of the first three or so was

    "Wild Thing" by The Troggs

If I were to get a radio DJ gig now, it'd probably be "Radio Radio" by Elvis, followed by "Strawberry Fields Forever," "I Am the Walrus" or "Tomorrow Never Knows"

    Turn off your mind, relax
    And listen to my show...

I love how Travis says that the new format is top 40 rock and roll, and the first song is a Nugent album cut lol

Speaking of uncle Ted, again, given my location, "Motor City Madhouse" may be a good choice.

Around the Dial by the Kinks?

Idk if I'm more into the lyrics or the feel of the music. I guess it would depend.

Right out of the gate with loud, raucous, in-your-face rock attitude. Follow it up with some Moody Blues :D

Whenever any of our group of friends moves into a new place, the first song played is “Phases” by Cannonball Adderley from his album “Pyramid” So I guess ...

Lived in Livonia from 1952-1958. We had some tough winters back then and school was never cancelled but now it's a liability issue. Did a guest spot on an AM station somewhere near Detroit in 1972 or 73. They said I had the "pipes" to do it and I played "Feel Flows" as my first track. I had a couple of listeners call in to say they liked the show. Didn't get the gig, though.
