Husker Du's mindblowing masterpiece, "Zen Arcade", clocks in at a perfect 1:10:23.

Frank Zappa - Läther (An posthumous album that was concieved and almost published in the 70s): 149 minutes (2 hours and 29 minutes). Not a second is wasted on this album.

don't know how long it is, but Frank Black's "Teenager of the Year" is 22 songs of all killer, no filler.

Really good choice, and one I seriously considered. At the end of the day it has a couple slow spots that make it just short of "flawless" (IMO only, of course).

But I have to go with Tool "Aenima" (77:18).

I don't find any flaws with this album. It's not only long, it's one song:

You named my two faves in this category. GNR is great but those two are on another level.

What's with these posts about it having to be a single CD? I didn't see where the OP specified that. It could be on vinyl, cassette, double, triple, or beyond and still be considered an album.

I have around 10k albums and I doubt any are flawless - even the ones made by machines. These are just subjective lists of favorite albums.

*Not messing around. I love the three days walking too and from work whilst it plays in full.

I didn't take it that way. I made a much longer list of "really long favorite albums" and then whacked out the ones that I thought had at least one duff track on them.

But, yes, it's all subjective. That's part of the fun!

Jimmy Mac Zooropa... better by design

Kiss Alive II 71 minutes and 26 seconds and Zooropa 51 minutes and 15 seconds.

Even on Pepper I want to FF past Fixing a Hole but I don't. The other two I'm still catching my breath and there is no time to even think about Fast Forwarding.

I took that for granted, but ok - there's operas and live boxes with like 10 cds, bring it on - seems rather pointless to me, though.

As long as it's a regular album and not a box set, compilation, or twofer CD, it qualifies.

For instance, the recently released Elton John concert in Russia is actually over 2h long (unedited). If that had been commercially released, it would have needed 2 CDs but would still be considered a single album. Just a double-CD album. :)

1 hour and 14 minutes of perfection. Still the greatest album of all time. You might disagree but you would still be wrong.

Seems pretty clear to me. It's flawless if you like it from start to finish, there is nothing you would change.

I can think of a handful of albums that I give 10/10, but I would only be guessing which is the longest; the playing time is not something I take much notice of. If it seems long, then it's probably not flawless.

I like that song. Funeral For A Friend is long and boring to me so I skip it when queuing up the album... but I wouldn't consider it bad. For me, the weak link (by far!) is Your Sister Can't Twist which I can't stand. Definitely up there as far as great albums are concerned. :)

My nominations would probably be Madman Across The Water. A thoroughly enjoyable album that I'd consider perfect... if not for Tiny Dancer being (again, just my opinion) 2 min too long. Its duration is 45:08.
