An impossible to find REM CD called Monster, apparently rarely seen anywhere - the guy in the store saw me eyeing up a LP by a band called Mellow Candle, and recommended I get this rare REM CD for a few quid less instead. He says it's only gonna increase in value.

Don't know the details but I guess it's legit.

I bought a used copy, NM about that time I think I paid around $200.00. It was kind of noisy until I bought my RCM and it actually played NM after the cleaning. This is the most I ever paid for a record.

Was at a CD/record fair, and found a vendor selling Oop cds, mostly in shrink. I expressed interest in it, as it was an absolute favorite of mine in the early Napster days. Was told I'd never find a copy as clean as the one for sale, which seemed legit considering the number of years that had passed. Was told the resale value was even higher for such a clean copy of an alternative classic CD (upwards of $2500). Made a gut call to buy it. Haven't been able to find a market for this nearest of mint copies for P Roach. Everything is priced MUCH lower than this though it may be one of those you live you learn experiences.

My CDs and LPs are like my firearms. No safe queens. Everything is unsealed, played often, taken to the range, well-cared for but not kept for investment value.

As far as what it's worth, (as opposed to what I paid for it, which wasn't too much), my most expensive record is probably a mono WL promo of the 13th Floor Elevators' "Easter Everywhere". The record is NM, the cover is VG+.
As far as what I've spent, probably around $150 for a VG copy of Charlie Feathers' "One Hand Loose" on King. Spent $50 on a SEALED copy of the Trashmen's "Surfin' Bird" album back in the day (mid-80'd).

I paid about $150 for a classics Led Zeppelin IV 200g.
    I shuddered for sure but,
It was sealed and is a dead quiet pressing. Sounds amazing on my system.
    No regrets.

I picked this up for $90 probably 20 or so years ago. I have purchased nothing that pricey ever since. (Anything that has "Collector's Edition" printed directly ON IT is NEVER a collectors item!) Still cool to have though.

$200 for a Beatles blue box, but it came with a free mono Help! (1981 reissue) and a box of 45s.

next closest price I've ever paid is $49, and it's a very rare occasion I spend even that much.
