Easy. To me the most important band, topping even Nirvana were Hedningarna and their album Trä. It's a furious combination of Swedish Folk music, Finnish folk singing and a massive rock production of the same creating a brooding, driving, energetic mixture that is unparalleled as far as I am concerned.
They have never repeated this style of an album, a really interesting band. But this is by far my personal album of the 90s. And therefore this band was the most influencial. And while I still love Nirvana very much, this album still speaks to me much more.

I forgot to include Nirvana, TOOL and Green Day to my list.
I should have also added Basement Jaxx.

My 90s faves, in no particular order:

    -Pearl Jam
    -Garbage
    -Spice Girls

Those are easily the biggies for me! There are plenty of other 90s acts I like, but none that compete with those 3 for my long-lasting affection...

Based on the albums in my collection...humm...

I'm limiting this to bands that hit their stride in the 1990s, not ones that continued to do great work started in the '80s or earlier.

    Uncle Tupelo/Wilco
    Pearl Jam
    Nirvana
    Blues Traveler
    Phish
