I’m starting this thread because I want to know how your singing voices sound! And no, I don’t want you to send audio files, I just want you to describe your singing voice. My singing voice is in baritenor range and sounds a bit like „poppy“ Paul McCartney, but I can’t scream like him. Maybe that’s the result of my choir singing career at school:laugh:

You didn't need to tell us who your singing voice sounds like, Sgt. Abbey Road. We already knew...

I also could’ve said that the voice is comparable to Billy Joel! Summarized I can say that I have a schmaltzy singing voice:biglaugh:

    Interesting question - I’ll play.

High baritone to low tenor. On the sweeter cleaner side, not fried or screamy. Throat and head tone, not diaphragm. Decent range and falsetto. Emotive, but way too pitchy and hard to control for my liking. Listening to Lennon and Morrison as a kid is what inspired/taught me to sing.

I love singing - it feels great.

    What an odd idea lol

I don't really know.... baritone, tenor or whatever?.... I still don't know the terminologies, and what they relate to.
All I can say is people seem to like it

I love singing, but I've got an untrained and underdeveloped baritone voice, so almost anything I sing along to is a octave lower for me (think Roy Orbison, Bruce Springsteen, and even a little Pavarotti)... Except for some Johnny Cash, that sits perfectly in my limited range, except for some really low notes of his. As for tone, I have a pretty warm, clean voice, with lots of ebb and flow. Some colleagues even compare it to Elvis, but without the upper range he had.

I cannot sing to save my life.

On the other hand, that seems no barrier to stardom. I'll refrain from naming names.

Boring. Nothing to make it distinctive. When I lived in Japan I got better at Karaoke but I was just aping the original singers' voices.

Well... People usually take cover when I start to sing... :shake:

Truth is, I had a very sweet singing voice when I was a kid, according to people who knew way back in the neolithic age. Since I went through puberty, I can no longer seem to hit the right notes. At all. Very sad. I used to love singing - now I only do it if I am 100% sure nobody is listening.

A pity. I have a powerful voice, which comes in handy when I have to call my pupils in from recess. But absolutely no capability of carrying a tune. One of life´s little tragedies, I guess. My speaking voice is quite high, so if I ever manage to hit a note, I guess I would be a tenor. But that´s just speculation.

    I really miss singing.

Versatility is my voice. Mostly rock style, blues can do R&B and even Rap.
On the rock side I go from Chris Robinson to Gregg Allman styles of vocals in covers and somewhere in between when I sing in my own voice.

my wife says I don't hit any of the notes I'm aiming at, but my retort is that I'm avant garde! She's just not hip to my style, which sounds like tomorrow!

My singing voice seems to believe there are only two notes available and neither are in the key of the song I’m singing.
