The only ones I can get to with any frequency: Last Vestige in Albany, River Street Beat Shop in Troy and The Re-Collector in Schenectady.

Easy Street West Seattle has a great vinyl section. Worth the long and frozen trek, miles and miles, uphill both ways...to the Parish of St Alfonso. (PS - Lynnwood to W Seattle? You have nothing to complain about - I live in Ravensdale (huh? where's dat? :kilroy:).

For what I'm looking for here in LA, the most consistent are:
    Amoeba Music
    Gimme Gimme Records
    Atomic Records

And an honorable mention to Unknown Pleasures "Probably the best in carrier bag in Scotland". It only took minutes before I had a large stack of records on the counter, I love that place!

Last year at that place in Pike Place I found my keeper copy of The Doors Waiting For The Sun. The jacket is VG+ but the original Monarch vinyl (super early, no sub stampers) is in conservative NM condition and sounds beautiful!

Sounds and Revolver were great, along with many other stores in the vicinity.

  16. Glenpwood

    Glenpwood Hyperactive!

Rock & Roll Heaven - Orlando (Premium pricing but its flawless archival quality unless its in the buck room)

Mobile Records - Mobile, Alabama (Moderately organized but always find some gems there at great pricing)

Yesterday And Today Records - Jacksonville, Florida (Climate controlled double wide booth at a flea market but the quality, variety, and pricing is always top notch)

    1. High Fidelity Records - Amityville NY
An absolutely stellar selection of used vinyl and CDs. I've never seen so much in one place. Most of it is in good shape, and if it's not then they won't charge you too much for it. Beater copies of records don't go for more than a buck here. Knowledgeable staff.

    2. Infinity Records - Massapequa NY
A big selection of used vinyl that isn't as plentiful as High Fidelity, but is more well organized. Also a big selection of 50s and 60s 45s. Prices are decent, not great.

    3. Mr Cheapo Records - Commack NY
Not too shabby on used vinyl, but the best prices I've seen on new vinyl anywhere.

    Overpriced Garbage Hall of Shame:
Looney Tunes - West Babylon NY
Snotty and pretentious staff. Regular customers the same way. Overpriced used and new vinyl. "Random" grab bags are full of self help CDs and unplayable records. Don't try and sell me G+ Beatles records for $15 each. F copies of 70s USA Sgt Pepper albums go for about $15 - $20 each here. Not worth the time or money, especially not with High Fidelity being located 5 minutes away.

It's worth saying that I have found far better deals at garage sales than at any of these record stores.

Haven't done much shopping lately, but of the ones I know still exist, these are my favorites:
    1. Radio Kaos, Stevens Point, WI
    2. Cheapo Records, Minneapolis (but their great Uptown location on Lake St. has moved since I was last there)
    3. Record Connection, Ephrata, PA (I haven't been there in more than 20 years, but it's still there and it appears to still be good)

After Princeton Record Exchange I have a hard time coming up with any other that are in the area that are anywhere near decent.
