the others all contain overplayed songs, so those ones are my faves. "Who's Next" is great, but i've heard it a zillion times over.

Is seems strange not choosing Who's Next because I love it. It would be next.

Did you meet a beautiful woman at the record shop when you bought It's Hard? It can't be the music! :)

I went with Tommy, Next, and Numbers.

Very hard to omit Sell Out and Quadrophenia. If MBBB, Live at Leeds, and Odds & Sods were allowed, it would be hard to leave them out too.

The last one on the strength of 'Eminence Front', one of their best songs ever, IMO.

There are 6 that I think stand out as a half dozen of the greatest albums ever recorded- and 5 that I prefer over the 6th. The ones that got my votes were-
    ~"My Generation"
    ~"The Who Sell Out"
    ~"Tommy"

That said, the only reason I didn't vote for these two brilliant albums, was because they already had the highest vote totals-
    ~"Who's Next"
    ~"Quadrophenia"

The one I like just slightly less than the top 5, almost got a vote because it's totals were so low. At the very least it deserves mention as their last great album (and their 6th best release)
    ~"The Who By Numbers"
    *~"Odds & Sods"
*- not on the poll (as it's a compilation) but it's up there quality wise with "The Who By Numbers".

I'll take a moment here to say that I think that the following Pete Townshend solo albums are just as great as the best 5 by The Who-
    ~"Who Came First"
    ~"Rough Mix"
    ~"Empty Glass"

And these two Pete Townshend solo albums are up there with "The Who By Numbers"-
"All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes"
    "White City: A Novel"

There's not really much in how much I like all The Who albums up to and including The Who By Numbers. It's a magnificent run of very varied albums. It depends on my mood which one I like most at any one time. The ones I play most are the first three. Mainly because they're fun, something which almost totally disappeared from their music in the 70s.
