Deep in the Motherlode, eh? Yeah, I like this one a lot. I especially love the middle section.

And then the bridge when the song bursty into the final refrain. Magnificent. Perhaps best track on ATTWT. I was about to do a Genesis Singles Cup on the Genesis fan forum but left there over an argument about The Beatles. Also, I have learned that vs. threads and polls are frowned upon / against the law so I doubt I will be staying here much longer either.

That will be contentuous among the proggers who will say that the best era was before the boring later stuff you refer to!

Another shout for Paperlate! I'm usually maligned for picking this and Alone Tonight in a top five.

Oh I know. The era of Collins on the mike is blasphemous around these parts.

Okay, I’ve given this a good bit of thought...

    (In no particular order) -

    The Lamia
    The Cinema Show
    Eleventh Earl of Mar
    One for the Vine
    Blood On The Rooftops

My own list is quite heavy with Wind & Wuthering pieces because I really do feel this is one of the best albums they ever made. For me, it’s a dead heat between this album and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. I simply couldn’t choose.

So interesting you chose Harlequin. I really believe this is a fantastic piece. Quite underrated, too.

As someone who grew up knowing Genesis as a 3 member band (actually Phil Collins and 2 other guys, no offense Rutherford and Banks), I’ll go with:
    • Land of Confusion (love the video)
    • In Too Deep (thanks American Psycho)
    • Man On The Corner
    • Misunderstanding
    • That’s All
And I like the laugh in Mama. It’s no The Message, but still a great song.

Nice list. Personally, I never could stomach The Battle of Epping Forest but this is a list of YOUR favorites of course. Fly On A Windshield is bloody brilliant!

Fantastic list. I love all of these pieces. Stagnation is really something else. What a great piece!
