Yes it was, but Kathy Burke and Ray Winstone are brilliant in it. Burke especially gave a devastating performance.

I'd also like to mention a British mystery called "The Third Secret" from 1964. Basically a who done it, it stars Stephen Boyd and a 13 year old Pamela Franklin (who also starred in "...Jean Brodie") who gives an award worthy performance. Very overlooked film but well worth seeing.

'Sparrows Can't Sing' is a curio worth checking out. Not a classic by any means, but a slice of London long gone. I believe the Pub that features in the film was run by The Kray Twins.

Deep End with Tilda Swinton? Maybe I'm wrong but didn't that take place in California?

Never mind. I see there was a 1970 film with Jane Asher by that title. Sorry!

Just before he made The Third Man, Carol Reed made this excellent little film in London - also based on a Graham Greene story.

    Deserves to be better known.
