Three only? Really hard! Oh well...

    T.Rex (ELECTRIC WARRIOR!)
    Queen (SHEER HEART ATTACK!)
    10cc (SHEET MUSIC!)

(next two would have to be
    Cockney Rebel and
    Roxy Music)

Nice to see Matchbox get some praise. Great band. Steve Bloomfield is a seriously under appreciated talent.

    Top three:
    The Who
    The Rolling Stones
    Led Zeppelin

    Honorable mentions:
    Pink Floyd
    The Faces
    Queen
    Deep Purple

I would strongly consider Fleetwood Mac, possibly in my top three, but by 1975, they were partially an American band as well.

Of course all three are from the 60s.
Not sure if I could do a solely 70s list. Zeppelin would still possibly qualify as they didn't debut until 69.

    For debuting in the 70s

    Queen
    ELO
    Black Sabbath
