This scene is the first time my 11 year old mom ever saw Elvis in live action. She didn't have a tv and only knew him from records and record covers. She said seeing him come out of the room on to the balcony she fell in love with him.

It probably really is "If I Can Dream" since it made me cry last time I heard it at the end of the Searcher documentary. I don't do that sort of thing often. Still, "Summer Kisses, Winter Tears" is a great contender:

Hollow Horse To pretend to be happy could only be idiocy

It's "I Want You" mostly though I have an identity with Alison. But there there are so many great ballads.

Oh you meant Elvis PRESLEY... try saying so next time.

Oy vey - either "Trilogy" from Aloha or "I Got A Woman" from Elvis On Tour (April 9, '72 - Hampton, I believe).

Wooden Heart Alhough we had different tastes in music, my mother & I both   Elvis singing this traditional-sounding song in English & German from GI Blues 196o.
(Also, a shout out for Memphis Tennessee, but as it's just one song, then I dedicate Wooden Heart to my mama.)

Last week I bought a nice "Way on Down" 45... and what (unfortunately) turned out to be a trashed (described as VG by Discogs seller :cussing:) "Ain't That Lovin' You" 45.

The King's self-described main vocal inspiration was my Favorite Crooner, and one of my all time fave singers,
    Dean Martin!

He really loved Dean a lot. I think he picked up a lot of his romantic singing style from Dean. He also drew a great deal from Roy Hamilton, Mario Lanza and even admired someone as unhip as John Gary. His taste in singers was pretty interesting, but the only singer that he actually felt he could not better, or at least did not what to try, was Roy Orbison.

Can’t say I’ve ever been a fan, but there’s several songs I like and I’d probably go with Suspicious Minds.

If I Can Dream.I first heard it on french radio in 1973.It was on a documentary series about Elvis.I live in the UK and cannot speak french but I used to listen to a lot of french and german radio as they played a lot of english pop music. When I heard If I Can Dream on that documentary series it completely blew me away.I knew all about the 1968 N.B.C Special but hadn't seen it at that point in time.I got the soundtrack album for Christmas that year.I thought it was pure magic and gave If I Can Dream, many many plays.I still do
