Good question. To the best of my knowledge, they haven't actually announced that they're running on fumes, although the signs are obvious. So, it seems like they have some distance to travel down the out-of-business-trail.

Of course, they might just run out of inventory before reaching that point.

So far, only two of my choices are listed as backordered.

I got an e-mail alert telling me that one CD I ordered last week for 30% off, Art Blakey Moanin', is no longer available.

I ordered a few things at 30% off. Just a few, as I could only find a few that I wanted, even at that price, and even after being out of the club for years.

I put something in my queue because I didn't want to get charged for nothing (if queue is empty you get charged and you get nothing). (The stuff in the queue isn't 30% off).

Lucky for me, the item in my queue wasn't available to ship, so I don't get charged this month. Dodged a bullet there...

5.99 sale replaces the 30% off code.

This just seems strange. Normally, a business going under has progressive discounts. But yourmusic is going from $5.99 to Buy2-get-1 free to $5.99 to $4.99 back to $5.99 then to 30% off and back to $5.99. They're all over the place and who can keep up?

But they have had at least one "sale" every day for about the last three weeks or so. I don't see ever going back to $6.99. But who buys at $5.99, when they've had three better sales in the last few weeks? Just doesn't compute.

Yourmusic.com is no longer accepting new members and is directing people instead to a different web site. They will probably shut down yourmusic.com and just shift the remaining inventory to the new site.

I ordered a slew of discs on the 30%-off sale, and my last queue item shipped yesterday. Once everything arrives, I will probably close my account. What's the point in restocking the queue?

Yourmusic has always been disjointed. Their website cumbersome, their search engine inconsistent, and their customer service non-existent. Truth be told, I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did once they stopped carrying the Warner and Sony titles. if it wasn't for the legacy deluxe titles a couple of the smaller labels that they stuck with until recently, I would have been done with them when they stopped carrying the Rhino stuff.

Ditto. I'm out. They could have a $1.99 promo and I'd be hard-pressed to find anything else of interest in their remaining stock.

I finally cancelled. The last straw for me was receiving the email below on an order that was placed using the 30% off promo code. It was great while it lasted.

We were unable to obtain the backordered item(s) listed below. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Paul Chambers : Bass On Top
Peggy Lee : Black Coffee (Master Edition - Remastered)

At this time, the item(s) above from order #YM0009751618 has been canceled, and your account will not be charged.

This seems to show an inventory-tracking system that cannot handle the real world.

The website that they refer you to is "Booksonline.com". Interestingly, they do NOT appear to sell CD's (or DVD's) at this time. To your point, it seems as though they're going to shut down yourmusic.com and probably the Columbia House DVD club and merge all three together with the book club. Columbia House DVD club does appear to be accepting new members though so perhaps not.

I think they should turn into a surplus outlet - move titles that there is extra inventory at blow out prices. Their inventory system stinks though. I ordered several items all showed in stock and all were cancelled and now are not on the site...

Well, it's going to be over and done on June 29. Questions about the closing are on the site.

Still holding out for one last dirt-cheap discount sale - less than $4.99/disk. I'm not sure it will be worthwhile though, being that they've officially announced the closing and any of the good stuff that might be left will definitely sell out.

Do we think they will go lower than $4.99/cd?

Possibly no. Their inventory is so lousy now, they may sell out without having to go lower.

You may be correct. But it also wouldn't surprise me if at some point they do a buy two get one free offer like they did a month ago.

I ordered a few at 4.99 - Tom Petty, Cracker, Simple Minds. If they drop the price lower, I'll pick up a few marginal titles. But wow is it slim pickings.

They'll probably just place what's left on a card table out on the sidewalk and see if anybody picks them up.
