RIP Dusty Hill - One of the Original Beer Drinkers and Hellraisers! May you travel well in the Great Beyond and join the chorus of legends in the Great Gig in the Sky!

Luckily the first show I ever attended was ZZ Top on their Afterburner tour! (Long story, was supposed to be Rush - Power Windows!) Obviously was too young to see them in the 70's but they were still great!

    Cheers!

I'll never forget it - It was the Rhythmeen tour. I had a blast.

    Thank you, Dusty!

Several at the Denver Coliseum 1974 and 1975 I believe then later a more polished show in the early 1980s. Always a great show and I remember the back and forth Mellow Down Easy medley as a highlight. Love the first three albums- all stone cold classics. Some of the first vinyl records I ever purchased.

Afterburner was my first show/tour as well. Saw them about a half dozen times since, always fun. My favorite was a few years ago, they were they entertainment for a corporate meeting I worked in Orlando. It was fun watching them backstage with Frank Beard's dog running around, and I had what amounted to a front row seat in front of Billy G. Great memory.

  8. June 20, 1981, if Google is to be believed. Cape Cod Coliseum. Lover Boy opened. It did not go well for Lover Boy.

March 25, 1991 at The Omni in Atlanta. It was notable for being The Black Crowes’ last show on the tour. They were kicked off after dissing Miller Beer, the tour sponsor.

Cape Cod Coliseum 1980 Deguello tour. Excellent show. Some new version of Humble Pie opened but I was too young (dumb) to appreciate that. I do remember they played I Don't Need No Doctor.

I would have seen a show in Portland OR on the Deguello tour in May 1980, but I had a baseball game to play in. Stupid priorities. So not until Aug 1, 2013 at the PacAmp in Costa Mesa CA.

I saw them in the mid 80s in Syracuse the first time.

the last time, the band stone sour opened for Ozzy Osborne in 2018 in Syracuse and ZZ Top was at Chevy court at the nys Fair so I figured out what time ozzy was going on at lake view and watched ZZ Top leaving just enough time to jog the mile or so to the amphitheater in time to see ozzy take the stage. Great double header

Winterland January 1974, second act on the bill with Climax Blues Band and headliner Steve Miller (the Miller set is on youtube). I was right up front; I have pictures in a box in storage somewhere.

Also saw them from way up in the stands at the Cow Palace in 1986. My date was not a fan, didn't enjoy the show and we left early. It ended up being our last date.

Fandango tour...Ft. Worth, Texas....fall of '76. Don't remember a whole lot about it...other than it was very loud and very good. Also the Longhorn cattle and some buzzards up on stage close to the speakers.
