I created this playlist and really enjoyed listening to these songs together! There are quite a few on here that I don't normally listen to, so it sounds surprisingly fresh and the tracks seem to work together pretty well. It's funny how it take all three of the other solo Beatles to keep up with Paul's amazingly popular output! Solo Beatles “1” Worldwide #1 Hits Side 1 It Don't Come Easy - Ringo Starr Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey - Paul McCartney Give Peace A Chance - John Lennon Another Day - Paul McCartney My Sweet Lord - George Harrison Live and Let Die - Paul McCartney Side 2 Imagine - John Lennon My Love - Paul McCartney Isn't it a Pity - George Harrison Band on the Run - Paul McCartney Photograph - Ringo Starr Listen To What The Man Said - Paul McCartney Side 3 Give Me Love (Give me Peace on Earth) - George Harrison Mull of Kintyre - Paul McCartney Whatever Gets You Thru The Night - John Lennon Let 'Em In - Paul McCartney You’re Sixteen - Ringo Starr side 4 Silly Love Songs - Paul McCartney What Is Life - George Harrison With A Little Luck - Paul McCartney You and You Alone - Ringo Starr Coming Up (Live) - Paul McCartney Fame - John Lennon Side 5 Say Say Say - Paul McCartney No No Song - Ringo Starr Pipes of Peace - Paul McCartney (Just Like) Starting Over - John Lennon Ebony and Ivory - Paul McCartney Side 6 Woman - John Lennon The Girl Is Mine - Paul McCartney All Those Years Ago - George Harrison Fine Line - Paul McCartney Got My Mind Set on You - George Harrison Ferry Cross The Mersey - Paul McCartney
Hadn't played this in awhile, and was listening to it tonight and really enjoying it! Anyone else want to give it a whirl. If you need to know where to get some of the more obscure #1 songs (now that's an oxymoron) just PM me.
Where on earth did Fine Line, All Those Years Ago, Only You & Give Peace a Chance top the charts? Edit: Another Day, too. And why no love for Give Ireland Back (#1 Ireland, Spain) or Stand By Me (#1, South Africa), if you're "stretching" things?
The "Now That's What I Call Music!" franchise empire overlords are greedily rubbing their hands while reading your post right now. They acknowledge all your advance research for "Now That What I Call Music! The Solo Beatles #1 Hit Singles - Volume One". No, you should not expect any compensation for this. No, you will not be credited in the liner notes. No, you will not receive a complimentary copy. Go buy your own.

Listening to this playlist again and these songs really do work quite nicely together. A lot of Paul's songs that I have avoided for decades, but now they have a freshness to them for me. Every time you get sick of a song, everything changes direction with the next song by a different solo Beatle.
Girls school was number one in the UK for 9 weeks with Mull Of Kintore. It's better than most of the tracks on this play list. Fine Line? I don' think so
In all fairness, the poster said WORLDWIDE #1 Hits. That being said: Another Day was #1 in Australia. Fine Line #1 Japan All Those Years Ago #1 US Billboard Adult Contemporary Only You #1 Canada Adult Contemporary Give Peace A Chance #1 Netherlands Fame is a David Bowie song, that John sings backing vocals and I believe, plays guitar. It's NOT a song credited to John Lennon and David Bowie. Ron
Paul - Jenny Wren John - ﹰCold ﹰTurkey Heorge ﹰ- Art of duying Ringo - Photograph Just one man's opinion
I know it was a big hit, but can we please take The Girl Is Mine off this list. And then burn it, throw it away, and never speak of it again? Please?
Yes, but John's on it and it went to number one! It also makes the playlist have a little more edge, which is a good thing.
Depends on what the OP means by credited. Songwriting credits include John but the artist credits do not (though Dr. Winston also played acoustic guitar and was largely responsible for the backwards piano intro).
All the song choices and charts are in the below old thread that can be looked at now, but not added to (That's why I created this current thread): Beatles Solo "1" - The 20 solo #1 songs by John, Paul, George, and Ringo
This is why I like to keep this thread going! Folks are always figuring out new tracks for me to add that reached #1 somewhere.
Solo Beatles “1” Worldwide #1 Hits with 3 new songs from above discussion - not happy with running order, but it's a start... Side 1 Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey - Paul McCartney It Don't Come Easy - Ringo Starr Another Day - Paul McCartney Give Peace A Chance - John Lennon My Love - Paul McCartney My Sweet Lord - George Harrison Side 2 Live and Let Die - Paul McCartney Imagine - John Lennon Band on the Run - Paul McCartney Isn't it a Pity - George Harrison Girls School - Paul McCartney Photograph - Ringo Starr Side 3 Listen To What The Man Said - Paul McCartney Give Me Love (Give me Peace on Earth) - George Harrison Give Ireland Back to The Irish - Paul McCartney Mull of Kintyre - Paul McCartney Whatever Gets You Thru The Night - John Lennon Let 'Em In - Paul McCartney You and You Alone - Ringo Starr side 4 Stand By Me - John Lennon Silly Love Songs - Paul McCartney You’re Sixteen - Ringo Starr What Is Life - George Harrison With A Little Luck - Paul McCartney Coming Up (Live) - Paul McCartney Side 5 Fame - John Lennon Say Say Say - Paul McCartney No No Song - Ringo Starr Pipes of Peace - Paul McCartney (Just Like) Starting Over - John Lennon Ebony and Ivory - Paul McCartney Side 6 Woman - John Lennon The Girl Is Mine - Paul McCartney All Those Years Ago - George Harrison Fine Line - Paul McCartney Got My Mind Set on You - George Harrison Ferry Cross The Mersey - Paul McCartney
The original 20 are fine. The additions are less fine e.g. Give Peace a Chance was not a no. 1 in UK or US and Ferry Aid is really stretching it as a "solo" release. (edit) I see worldwide is now mentioned. Also Girlschool was technically a double A side but was never played on UK radio or featured on Top of the Pops. Nobody remembers it as a no. 1
BTW -- This is a really cool COOL idea and I wonder if it could ever officially/commercially happen... hmmmm? Why not? Throw in some "rarities" and you'd have an instant best seller!!
I want Fine Line stricken from this list! ;-) Will solo Beatles eventually become group compilation albums ?
