IMO 1967 seemed to be more of a "singles" year in the US. Other than the obvious mentioned, I'd like to add:

    Four Tops- Reach Out
    Otis + Carla
    Supremes- Sing HH+D
    Sweet Inspirations-S/T
Albert King- Born Under a Bad Sign

john lennonist There ONCE was a NOTE, PURE and EASY...

Part of it surely has to do with my age at the time, but I think 1967 was the greatest year for pop music ever (I'm referring to both UK and U.S. releases).

I'm trying to process all of these 1967 lists without the Hendrix albums, and can't. Just an epic, epic year for popular music. I'll put out a more standard list - every album on the list is so iconic that it's recognizable by the title alone.
Smile might have topped the list, or at the very worst, come in no lower than 4th.

    1. Are You Experienced?
    2. The Velvet Underground & Nico
    3. The Doors
    4. I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You
    5. John Wesley Harding
    6. Forever Changes
    7. Francis Albert Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim
    8. Surrealistic Pillow
    9. Axis: Bold as Love
    10. The Supremes Sing Holland-Dozier-Holland

An inspired #1 choice. I've been re-listening to their discography recently...even though they did so many covers (sometimes in barely recognizable form), they were truly one of the most unique bands of the era. And that's really saying something!
