I agree. And also, it's the only post-beatle album with participation of the four (although not in the same song).

    Dr. Pepper What, me worry?

Very strange comments to me on some of this. The Beatles albums weren't "great" to me they were "fantastic," so with that as a reference point then many many solo albums were great with some being nearly as fantastic as a Beatles album.

My list thought 10 is hardly enough.

    John Lennon Plastic Ono Band
    Imagine
    All things must pass
    Ram
    Ringo
    Band on the run
    Double Fantasy
    Tug of war
    Cloud 9
    NEW

Was thinking about this a bit more. My "great" list (POB, Imagine, Ram, BOTR, Ringo, ATMP) hasn't changed at all, but I keep thinking about the other ones I love that aren't objectively great (IMO, of course):

    Walls & Bridges
    Chaos and Creation
    33 1/3
    McCartney

IMO, there are only two GREAT Beatles solo records: All Things and POB.

Very pleasantly surprised to see Ringo's Time Takes Time on the list. Pretty good list, although I definitely would have picked New over Memory Almost Full.

Oh yeah? How about a top 10 Ringo albums? Or top 10 albums by 60's drummers who played Ludwig drums and wore a lot of rings?

Yes Ringo is a great album thanks to J,P & G. It gains greatness status for "Sunshine Life For Me (Sail Away Raymond) alone

It really depends on how one defines those terms. To me, an album that's "fantastic" is like one that's "excellent". While that can mean any number of things, it's basically a very solid album of very good , a couple of great, songs, end of story. On the other hand, a "great" album is one that not only contains excellent songs, but also has a transcendent quality about it whose innovation and influence has people talking about it decades after its' release. Based on that criteria, if there are a total of three or four "great" ex-Beatle albums it would be a lot.

    Wilburies vol 1

I think venus and mars, mind games, walls and bridges.. all 2nd tier. Heck i might even put wonderwall in that batch.

we kind of just did this ... i am not sure why so many folks contend that there were few if any good/great solo albums by beatles members ...
if you hated the beatles, there is little likelyhood that you would love the solo works, and if you were one of the "beatles are the best and only band ever" crew ... just the fact that the albums are solo probably makes you bitter ....
if you just like music, the ex-beatles made many great albums

    It does - see No. 50! :)

Maybe the reason it isn't higher on my list is the simple fact that I've lived with most of the other albums for many more years...
(There are also about 10 more solo albums that I really, really like, but I didn't want to create a second Bubbling Under chart, didn't want to push it too far.)

    Excellent Post!

It's absolutely mind blowing, how much of the fantastic music these men have made is just dismissed!

No not every note is Earth shattering, but I hear greatness throughout!
