Favorite dozen comedies since 1971? OK, I'll play (in chronological order with favorite quotes from each):

    1. Harold and Maude (1971) - "Do you enjoy knives?"
    2. Blazing Saddles (1974) - "If you shoot him, you'll just make him mad."
    3. Young Frankenstein (1974) - "Put the candle back!"
    4. Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) - "Tis but a scratch!"
    5. Smokey and the Bandit (1977) - "What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law."
    6. Up In Smoke (1978) - "I think we're parked, man!"
    7. Monty Python and the Life of Brian (1979) - "Always look on the bright side of life."
    8. The Blues Brothers (1980) - "We're on a mission from God!"
    9. Airplane! (1980) - "And don't call me Shirley!"
    10. Caddyshack (1980) - "You'll get nothing and like it!"
    11. This Is Spinal Tap (1984) - "This one goes to eleven!"
    12. Top Secret! (1984) - "It all sounds like some bad movie!"

    Honorable mentions:

Sleeper (1973) - could also sorta be considered sci-fi ("That's a big chicken!")
The Bad News Bears (1976) - a bit too serious to be a "pure" comedy (whatever that means!)
The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976) - I prefer "A Shot in the Dark" but this was still great
9 to 5 (1980) - as much a social commentary as it is a comedy, but I guess a lot of these actually are exactly that
Groundhog Day (1993) - ostensibly a "RomCom" but again, many if not most comedies are more than just laughs
