I'd be curious to see who's doing the "new" 2016 remastering, who pressed, and how it's all split out (aside from the studio album included as both LP and CD, I can't tell what else is LP vs CD).

I have some of the 2008 remasters on LP and am less than thrilled with the pressings. Unless you have both money to burn and a giant missing hole in your Metallica collection, I'd hold off until more details come out.

I'm curious about who is remastering them also. I have a suspicion that they will be the mastered for itunes version as far as the CDs go. Then again I could be wrong. Until further notice I'm sticking with my 1995 remasters.

I also agree on the general consensus that there are two other current threads on this topic :D

I am curious, as I don't own these on vinyl. They own the Masters now, so it them doing this on their own label. SO If these turn out to be a stinking pile of awful, the blame can land solely on them. I am hoping these will be awesome, will know soon enough.

I have both on the way and have originals of each to compare to. I'm hoping they nail them.

If you don't mind please review them when you get them. I'm curious.

Oh trust me, they'll get a bath first and then straight on the table. RTL is my favorite album... ever, and KeA is a damn thrill ride in its own right. I'm sure we'll get a slew of reviews on or about 4/15/16 :)

Has anyone compared the 96/24 of the new 2016 remasters of the black album and death magnetic to the pono versions?

If you are interested, I took the song's That Was Just Your Life first two minutes and put every 20 seconds of each one. It starts with the Pono version so it is 20 secs of Pono, next 20 secs 2016 and so on up to 2 minutes.
    Here is the link.

Looks like the Pono is brickwalled, what a bunch of crap.

Got my ride the lightning remaster the other day, sounds great to my ears! I am just curious though, my vinyl came with "side 1" pressed on both sides. Not the actual music it's all fine, just the "sticker" with the track listing etc. on it. This happen to anyone else??

I've got the box set, the vinyl has correct labels.

I have both boxes and I am extremely happy with every single item in each box. I don't care what the DR values indicate, the vinyl and CDs sound great. Bring on Puppets and Justice!

I just have the RTL vinyl (not the box) and I'm super happy with it in terms of sound and pressing quality. Only complaint is the cover art wasn't reproduced all that well (lacks clarity, a bit darker), but that's a common problem among many current vinyl remasters or reissues these days.

Looking forward to Master of Puppets. I just hope it will be easy to distinguish the remastered vinyl from the ones that are currently out there.

I have insomnia and was listening to the Hollywood Palladium vinyl. They did a really nice job with this.Even if it is digital and the source isn`t a professional recording it has a very smooth balanced sound and even separation of instruments. This is just the type of thing I hoped for and I really like it.The show is smoking too.:)

Agreed. I think they did a great job on both shows offered on vinyl, as well as the CDs.

Cliff's ripping feedback during Seek and Destroy on the Paris show vinyl, is worth the price of admission alone!

    Hi,

I'm sure this has been answered elsewhere, but what is the DR of the Death Magnetic Vinyl pressing? The blackened version (2016) vs the original 2xLP (33 1/3 RPM).

    Thanks

I don't know what you exactly mean. There is no 2016 vinyl pressing. Here's a list from database.
About the 2008 release, I found a needledrop, here's the log.

I own the 2015 reissue on vinyl from Blackened and the 5lp box. I can check differences between them (if any) and let you know later.
