Up until the Chaos and Creation material, voice and production would be hard to tell between if you weren't that familiar with McCartney's music though, that's kind of impressive.

I always thought Goodnight Tonight came out in 2001... Some production may have been involved with changes.

I laugh when I read stuff like this because i listened to McCartneys stuff for then first time well out of sequence.

My first real exposure was All the Best and his Live televised concert in Charlotte NC from the New World Tour.

At the time I thought Another Day was a new song! oops!

I see this thread is being somewhat revived. Dont know if yall have seen my review of Pure McCartney yet, but here you go:

TL;DW: Its a very unique album, and I love it! However, its confusing having three different versions of the same album, all with slightly different track listings. Kinda wish they made the LP version the same as the 2 CD

Maybe HDtracks got it but I'm not sure. The Band On The Run super deluxe book doesn't cost so much anymore these days. Maybe 50 bucks.^^

I remember some people thought Got To Get You Into My Life was a new song because of it's high Billboard chart placement in a period when Paul McCartney was doing well with the Speed of Sound LP. Also, I knew Goodnight Tonight was from 1979, I was just saying that as a jab to @paulmccartneyistheman because the voice sounded the same until the Chaos era.

Just a bump as I await the big Pepper box release next Friday 5/26/17.

Still spinning this Pure McCartney vinyl box. Spin the 4 cd box like every other week. Please don't mind the bump just waiting for peoples opinions on the new Giles Martin stereo mix of Pepper and the box contents.

Love this collection. For me it is an absolute classic I keep returning to.

    That said:
    a) would have loved one more CD's worth of stuff left off that I have since "discovered"
    b) my excursions into Macca's back catalogue have kind of reached a dead-end--not sure if I need much more than this . . .

Got Ram, love Monkberry (most of the rest is on Pure--this should have been too). Got the first album--like the instrumentals, very cool. Got Venus and Mars--excellent live album. Then Tug of War: given this is so highly rated, I felt that I must be sated because my patience wears a bit thin (though I do like the title song--another one that I wish was on the hypothetical 5th CD of Pure!).

An essential modern-day album is Chaos And Creation In The Backyard, which is certainly not lightweight, and shows a more mature and mellow Paul. Great album, and it (the CD) can be had for <$4 shipped on eBay. Maybe give that one a shot! New is also fantastic showing a wide range of styles.

There are many more! Make sure to put Flaming Pie on the "to buy" list.

Thanks for those suggestions, always great to find good CD bargains. Just ordered Chaos and Pie from eBay.

I've lost touch with Macca, so it will be nice to hear some fresh-to-me songs.

Love all Macca & am a super deluxe buyer on most. Love my FITD super.

But, "Pure McCartney" - absolute perfection playlist, imo. Love my cd set.

I'd add Off The Ground to the buy list. Not only because it's my favorite album by Paul that's usually on the end of people's Paul album list, but there should have been more songs on Pure from that album. "Hope of Deliverance", "I Owe It All To You", "Golden Earth Girl" and "Cmon People" are pretty worthy songs to be included.

You know we're going to wind up recommending every album, right?

OK, maybe not Pipes of Peace.

Yeah, someone will recommend Pipes of Peace, too.

Still can´t get over the fact that he didn´t include the hits from Flowers in the Dirt. Just unbelievable.
