I (like Sir Paul) thinks "Pie" is his classic album of the past 20 years, however 8 tracks and to not have the UK hit single "Young Boy" or the Steve Miller duet "Used To Be Bad" shocked me a bit!

No, I think even now approaching 75 he does not want to be predictable and that sure is the case!

And I'll be sentencing Wingsfan to two lifetimes in McCartney Jail for removing the other two titles :cop::cop::cop::D

"Pure" introduced me to McCartney solo (as stated before, love it) and I would not be without any of the three songs you mention--particularly "Bip Bop" and "Winedark" which are essential.

I would definitely add "Monkberry" to your 5th CD, along with "London Town." And where's "Tug of War"?

    Nice!

Yeah, that was a lot of really hot singles left off the original set!

"Girlfriend" is one of my all-time favorite solo McCartney tracks.
Those other two songs fit very well in the box as-is.

The box really did need a 5th disc. No doubt so this way the singles and select favorites and album tracks are all included!

London Town is on there as a replacement for Girlfriend.........Yeah "TOW" is a great tracks and if the CD fit more than 80 minutes it would be on there as the 20th track..

I wanted to make sure that "Driving Rain" was represented with Lonely Road and even though 2 covers were singles on "Run Devil Run", "Pure" has no covers which is why I went with the title track to end the CD.

    lol Boos......

I never got "Girlfriend" and "Winedark"...lol. To put them on at the exclusions of singles like "I've Had Enough" and " Hope of Deliverance" is one of my few gripes with the "Pure" box!

I do wish that "Hope Of Deliverance" was included in the boxset and even more, that Off The Ground was more featured than just "Winedark Open Sea". But I like how a little known McCartney song from a little known McCartney album was included on Pure McCartney. As for "Girlfriend", I'm glad it returned from Wingspan as I really like the song. I believed it could have made a better single than "I've Had Enough" and could have closed the first side of London Town better IMO.

It went and made myself a disc 5. It still misses out a lot of tracks (I've Had Enough for example) but I think it's a decent attempt.

I decided to include several lesser known B-sides in place of perhaps more obvious songs.

    My Brave Face
    Daytime Nighttime Suffering
    Mr. Bellamy
    Letting Go
    Put It There
    Getting Closer
From a Lover to a Friend
    C Moon
    Ever Present Past
    Girls School
    Hope of Deliverance
    So Bad
    This One
    Old Siam, Sir
    No Other Baby
    Sally G
    Driving Rain
    Teddy Boy
    Figure of Eight
    Rainclouds

That would be a very enjoyable listen. Many of those should have made the four disc set.

Those are two solid discs, but they obviously leave off many worthy songs from the last 35 years or so and I enjoy listening to the songs in non chronological order. I do agree that in no way does "Pure McCartney" represent his 67 best songs. Somewhere back in this thread I posted a large number of changes I made for myself.

I again listened to this 4 cd set and realize Paul liked these songs for this collection.
It took a few listens to absorb the odd songs in this collection not the popular ones. All in all it is good balanced Paul overview.
I'm sure everybody on this thread could add more songs to this collection to their liking.

This is only my first step on the ladder, I will compile Vol. 3 & 4 as soon as possible... And there is no McCartney collection on the market where the tracks are chronologically arranged! Listening to it is different to seeing it on paper: I put a lot of love and effort into creating an effective running order.

Is there a thread for the new vinyl reissues anywhere? I’ve done a search but no luck. Surely there must be a thread somewhere?
