Of those my favorite is Father John Misty, of course haven't heard all of them, however.

Kurt Vile. I'd rate it higher as well.

My two personal 2018 favorites didn't even make into the top 50: Alejandro Escovedo and The Decemberists

None of my favorite stuff from 2018 is on that list.

Not yet...I need to go back and re-listen to a bunch of stuff. I can think of some albums that will likely make my best of 2018 list. Wayfarer "World's Blood," Bongripper "Terminal," and Kriegsmaschine "Apocalypticists" will probably be on there.

    Picked the mighty Paul Weller.

Honorable mention: Jack White, Yo La Tengo, and the Breeders.

My top 25 list is gonna look a LOT different from that one.

I went with Spiritualized, but it was not easy. I could have just as easily gone with about 10 other ones.

Yep, was definitely shocked to not see Wide Awake on this list.

Picked Father John Misty for this one and John Prine for the 50-26 list. Also love the Janelle Monáe and Arctic Monkeys and Ry Cooder and Courtney Barnett.

Missing faves include (and I'm not sure if some of these are late 2017): First Aid Kit, The Beths, Cardi B, Jim James, Ashley McBryde, Beach House, Lord Huron, David Byrne, Angelique Kidjo, Billie Eilish, The Fratellis, tUnE-yArDs, Okkervil River, and Death Cab for Cutie.

Paul Weller for me, beautiful album, one of his best. A close second would be Sons of Kemet but appreciate it's a real marmite album; they are stunning live if you get the chance to see them.

I don't know the album, but 'Joy as an act of resistance' deserves a place just for the title

Out of my personal top twenty (or so) for the year, they listed five:
    Sons Of Kemet
    Ezra Furman
    Christine and the Queens
    Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever
    Ty Segall
but it's their list, not mine.

I sadly don't know any of the albums, but recognise a few.
I did youtube Ty Segall one day doing paperwork and it was pretty good ...
I'll probably catch up in a few years :)

Unfortunately, 2018 has been a weak year for me. I've wished and wanted to get really excited about some new releases but it has only happened a few times. I thought 2017 and (especially) 2016 were much stronger years overall.

I can't vote for any of these albums, either, as I didn't like the ones I have heard (Jack White, Father John Misty, Courtney Barnett and Ty Segall). I don't want to be a negative nancy, but I also want to be honest. I did find a few albums to really love this year, but I hope we do a thread soon to list our favorites of the year and I'll post them there.
