Kenny Rogers Roasters offered nearly an identical to Boston Chicken (now "Market").
They both filed for bankruptcy the same year, but managed to keep going. Rogers is doing a lot of its business overseas.

The Minnie Pearl chicken thing seemed like a good idea- i mean she seems like the type of woman who'd have a good family southern chicken recipe, doesn't she? But I guess not.

I'd totally go for that on a burger!

Yeah, I definately could go for a Twittyburger. Anybody remember Tanya Tuckers brief entry into the salsa business in the 90's? I bought some on clearance and it was actually pretty good!

I used to like the Kenny Roger's Chicken when I was in school in Memphis. If I remember correctly, a country music couple tried a Nashville-style hot (as in really spicy) fired chicken spot in Nashville that folded.cwd

Edit: Lorrie Morgan and Sammie Kershaw. I do not know if it failed or they just decided to fold, have to look that up tomorrow. I personally love Nashville-style spicy fried chicken...every several months I have to go off my diet regimen and indulge.cwd

My wife and I LOVED Po' Folks! We were so disappointed when they closed the Bradenton Fl restaurant.

When I lived in Athens, GA. in the 80s a group of us would often go to Po' Folks for the all-you-can-eat deal. I think we certainly helped eat them out of business.

    It's Brazilian cuisine.

    We'd better stop there.

Nope. Boston Chicken (Boston Market) is nasty "food." Kenny Rogers did "broasted chicken" which is chicken that tastes like fried chicken but is much healthier due to far less use of oils.
"Broasted" is a thing that you must license thru the "broasted" chicken co., which seems very hard to do as you can't get it here in Colorado (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong. I need some).

Um.... is this a music forum?

It looks like it was just rotisserie chicken- same as Boston Market.

I didn't know he was in the chicken business. I remember him doing commercials for Log Cabin syrup.

This thread reminds me of the Dewey Cox sausage commercials :)

By the way, in 1963 or so, there were some guys over at our house, pitching what I remember to be Pat Boone Family Restaurants or something like that to my dad. I remember brochures and all kinds of stuff but my dad wasn't really interested in the project. I don't remember any restaurants ever actually appearing..... did they?
