The old booted offline tape source has 23 tracks. The other 4 were completely unknown prior to anthology. I wonder what he's referring to... lol Is there something I'm not aware of, or is it just a certain new cleanup being shared on a certain beatles forum?
Ah, perhaps it's a clue that they're only going to release 23 of them this year. Now the question is, which four are they going to omit? The two Abbey Road songs presumably, plus ...?
It's probably gone the same way as the film Mira Nair said she was making about the Beatles' time in India.
Has anyone considered there might be other home demos that are not from "Esher". Surely Paul demoed some of his other songs somewhere? Same with John & George and if they have access to them there may be some surprises awaiting us
It's 1968 all over again! Another push for the White album. Tom Murray’s Acclaimed Beatles Photo Collection, ‘The Mad Day: Summer Of ’68’ Returns To New York
If it's "circulating," present tense, then he's not talking about a future release. (Maybe a future release is coming, but it's not circulating now.) Also, my understanding is that he has had very little to do with Apple after Anthology, in part to keep his editorial independence for the All These Years books.
I interviewed him for Beatlefan not too long ago. He mentioned that Mark Lewisohn is a consultant to the film and was interviewed. I don't know a release date, but it sounds like it will appear at some point.
I don't think they'd leave those two off. Those are pretty interesting (and rare) historical examples of songs The Beatles tried out but didn't follow up on. As an "official" band, anyways. Sour Milk went to Jackie Lomax, and as you expressed very accurately before, this song in its finished state can kind of be regarded as a "lost" Beatles classic. Circles is alright, not my favorite Esher track, but I'd still love to hear a clean version of it. When it comes to what will be left out, if anything, I'd think that they'd hold off on any Abbey Road tracks for now, and they also might omit whatever ones were used on Anth 3 considering that they are already available in very good quality.
