UNPOPULAR OPINION: I wish this set has some Revolution 9 outtakes, loop clips, or anything really from those sessions.
The behind the scenes of the marketing/ art design at record companies fascinates me as well especially modern day Beatles/Apple stuff.
I don't think that is necessarily think that is an unpopular opinion, it would be great to hear some of the isolated loops and samples.
I bought the mono CD box so I've got it already. And I haven't the setup for high-res or surround so the Blu Ray is a bit redundant for me. However, I'll be quite happy with the 6 CDs. (I've lost my place in this thread now ….. I was about a hundred posts behind. )
I have to think one day Giles will write a book about his career in music with large sections devoted to his father, the Beatles LOVE show and the remixes of the classic albums and working with Paul, Ringo, Yoko and Olivia, etc... It has the potential to be a great read! Being born in 1969, he probably has some distinct memories of being in studios and somewhat around the work his father was doing in the late 70s/early 80s, and onward of course.
You might have this one in mind, Let It Be Beatles from Melbourne. They are currently doing a Mark Lewisohn interview. Let It Be Beatles
"Martin will be based at London’s Abbey Road but will “work across all of the company’s studios,” the spokesperson said." Does that mean he's going to Lagos to oversee their studio upgrades [45 years late]?
Personally FWIW I've cut back considerably on my time here recently (since some of the music was released). I came to the realization that I just don't care about everyone's nitpicky idea of what should be when it's expressed with vitriol and a cluelessness as to other considerations... It was cutting into my fun. This is not directed at you. I still love the site, but release time is time for me to lay low I think As for Giles, he's long since proved himself and to be accused at this point of getting where he is because of his pedigree is oblivious to what he's accomplished, as though anyone in his position would have done the same... To quote a Wiseman (also not directed at you): If your life's not right, doesn't satisfy you You don't get the breaks like some of us do Better work it out, find where you've gone wrong Better do it soon as you don't have long Get out of that sour milk sea You don't belong there Get back to where you should be Find out what's going on there
From the remixes I've heard so far, I'm loving how it sounds! (Back In The USSR, Don't Pass Me By, Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da and Wild Honey Pie) While My Guitar Gently Weeps, is a bit of a let down, although it's clearer, the drums are panned too hard, which causes the song to lose power.
When I'd get extra frustrated at something that really didn't fit physically in the store, I'd usually rant on how every art director at a label should have had a minimum of one year working in retail. Although minor, one of my pet peaves was not putting the artist name at, or very near the top of the LP sleeve. It always seemed important for customers to be able to see the name as they were flipping through the bins.
