Another legendary engineer who spent many productive years working for Columbia Records is Stanley Tonkel. As deserving of all the accolades and admiration that the legendary Frank Laico has received over the years, Stanley Tonkel was one of the greats who should be ranked up there right alongside Mr. Laico. He was also a very kind, patient and superbly professional individual. I was extremely fortunate to have worked with Mr. Tonkel on various projects at the 30th. St. studios in the 1970s. I wonder if anyone here has any current info regarding the whereabouts and well-being of Mr. Tonkel?
