Looks like it'll be a **very** Merry Christmas for those of us who are classic TV fans... there had been fairly substantive rumors about the appearance of this show on DVD, and while digging around on the 'Net this evening, I found the following info buried in the Rodgers & Hammerstein website:

    ********************
    CINDERELLA
    Presented by the CBS-TV Network
    Produced by Richard Lewine
    Directed by Ralph Nelson
    Starring Julie Andrews, Jon Cypher
    Broadcast live on CBS-TV March 31, 1957
    (estimated viewing audience: 107 million)
Scheduled for first network re-broadcast on PBS-TV December 2004
DVD to be released by Image Entertainment
    December 2004 (Website: www.image-entertainment.com )

    *************************

Great, great news, this one... Variety has also previously reported that Julie Andrews will be providing some commentary for the DVD. They're hoping to track down a color version of the program (though God only knows where they think they'll find it...), though they say they'll issue the black and white kinescope, if need be.

(There are records that indicate that a B & W videotape was made of the broadcast by CBS, but that tape is currently MIA.)

It'll be great to see in any form, though!
