I'm interested in buying this vinyl release. Wondering if anyone had the chance to listen to it and comment on the sound quality ? Is it worth it or just stick to my old CD release.

I never heard the new edition, but I am sure they used totally different masterings, compared to the original 1992 releases.
Th original GOLD and MORE GOLD vinyl editions sound bad - too much treble.

I hope so, it's one of my favourite albums.
The CD version that I have sounds thin, brittle and overall bad. That's why I am putting hopes in the vinyl.

Yes, the 1992 Tretow remasters are way too bright and thin.

Well it uses the Jon Astley remaster -judging by the horrendous cut'n'paste job done on Dancing Queen in order to fix a drop out. And Knowing Me, Knowing You has a big skip in the middle, again another Jon Astley alteration the purpose of which I don't know. The good thing is that The Name of the Game appears in its full-length form without distortion. It's safe to say they used a digital source of the 1999 remaster for the 2014 LP. When it came out I was hoping they'd use the same sources as the 2014 remaster they did for Itunes but it was not the case.

The original vinyl of it is terrible, too. The original album releases were superior...especially the Canadian pressings.

Thanks for the input. Doesn't seem to be a great one to buy. Then its better to get a used Canadian original album release instead!

Gold was the first CD I bought that I thought sounded wrong rather than poor. This was way before we knew about the loudness wars! It seems others feel the same way.

None of their stuff is going to sound very good. Its the way it was recorded. Its the joy of the music that counts with Abba. The melodies and those harmonies.

I figured that pressing would use the remasters done by Masters of Audio.
