All by Iron Maiden, all recorded in a (converted) barn, and all fairly forgetful albums as far as Maiden is concerned.

 

Every Valley, the third studio album by the brilliant Public Service Broadcasting, is an aural documentary about the history of Welsh mining, more specifically chronicling the rise and decline of the country's coal industry.
To immerse themselves in the material,the band went to Ebbw Vale in Wales, a former steelworks town, where they recorded the album in the lecture hall/convention space of a defunct workers' institute.

Medeski, Martin & Wood recorded Shack Man in a solar powered shack in Hawaii.

Iron Maiden has been recording at Guillaume Tell in France which is an old movie house. The band would play on the stage and Bruce would rollerblade around the floor working on lyrics.

I seem to recall that the drum parts for Queensryche's Rage For Order were recorded in an empty warehouse and at the bottom of an empty pool.

On a short television documentary which aired in 1986, Scott Rockenfield stated that the drums were recorded in a stone warehouse using Le Mobile recording studios.
