I'm gonna cheat. Faith No More's 'Angel Dust' is a better listen with Midnight Cowboy as the opener, IMO. That leaves Jizzlobber at the end. There's nowhere to go after that. Nothing can follow that track. When the planet Melancholia collides with planet earth, and we all perish, I'll be playing that track.

Genesis had The Fountain of Salmacis and Supper's Ready early on, although in my opinion their later LPs tended to tail off a bit toward the end.

Every Joni album has a great closing track if ya ask me :)

Cactus Tree, Both Sides Now, Circle Game, Richard, Judgement of the Moon and Stars, Twisted, Shadows and Light, Refuge of the Roads, Silky Veils of Ardor, Goodbye Pork Pie Hat, Love, Lucky Girl, Bird that Whistles, Two Grey Rooms, Sire of Sorrow, Tiger Bones, Both Sides Now (2000), Circle Game (2002), If.

With the possible exception of Tiger Bones and the remake of Circle Game, all essential Joni.

Radiohead OK Computer last song is The Tourist. Dylan's Blonde on Blonde "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands", and Highway 61 "Desolation Row!" All above avg. songs and not a throwaway track as it were.

Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road ends with "Harmony". The best song on the album? That would be like saying the smile is the best part of a Mona Lisa... It's the whole that counts, and "Harmony" is a perfect stroke to finish the album.

Two great ones (IMO) that I didn't see mentioned - great songs that also are great as album closers on their respective albums:

"Radio Radio" from the Elvis Costello album This Year's Model, and "This Must Be The Place" from the Talking Heads' Speaking in Tongues.
