After I read this thread earlier today I pulled out Clockwork Angels. If you're going to make this a last album, it's a pretty great one. And this makes"The Garden" so much more profound.

Is the Rush "studio years" out of the question?

You can add Meg White and rename the band "Slow"

I would love to hear Geddy slappin' the bass some more, but vocally he is done. I don't want him to go out and try to sing lead anymore.

I hope to hear Geddy in another group, similar to John Paul Jones in Them Crooked Vultures.

His limitations as a drummer were holding him back as well as his health issues. The most important part is that musically they werent all moving in the same direction.

They should just go to a yearly dinner together and stream it. Those were my favorite parts of the doc.

    Freaky timing.

I hope they enjoy their (semi?) retirement. They have given us a lot if great memories , and were vindicated in the end.

Let’s not forget that Neil lost his whole family one time and I’m sure he really wants to be there for his new family so you gotta respect the guy for that. He’s inspired so many drummers and Rush has given me so many great memories. They went out on their own terms and with integrity. You can probably count how many bands that have done that on one hand.

I think Geddy is gonna do another solo album and tour though. That’s my prediction.

BS like this is why I don't post on this forum much anymore.

    "A farewell to kings" indeed!

I saw the Rush "R40" show at the ACC here in Toronto and it was excellent. Everything was wrapped up nicely full circle.

In reply to the stupid post above, I'd like to submit the following for your approval:
    One of Rush's finest albums:

We, in Toronto, are eternally proud of our hometown boys!

Enjoy your retirement fellas; thanks for "making memories" for us during all those years...

Explaining how he was cornered into playing on the last tour, Neil Peart says in the film: "The b****** pulled that exact card. Alex said he has arthritis and said, 'I'd really like to go out one more time and don't know if I'll be able to.'

    Cornered into playing by whom?

    And who/what pulled what card?

I think he's saying that Alex got him (Neil) to go on tour by pleading that his (Alex's) ailments might prevent a tour in the future, so it's now or never, while Neil *didn't* want to tour for the same reason (his ailments). I think he's saying that Alex tricked him into touring by reframing the issue (of ailments), which, if true, was pretty damn clever of Alex!

"The reason you don't want to go out on tour is the reason we must tour now", in other words (said indirectly by referring to his ailments and not Neil's).

  23. IIIRC the Melvins opened for Rush in the mid-‘90s, so it’s not as crazy as it might seem to some!

If they said they are done why can't people just let it be and be thankful for what they did.I can't understand people hoping and speculating for more.Same for all these 70s warhorse bands,it's like people just can't let the tired rest.
