Love the piece at the 1 min. mark, when Brian Williams takes a drink out of his NBC mug.

Since closed captioning is available for nearly every show out there, maybe it's not that much more effort to go a couple steps further -- archive all that text and store it in a database. I suppose that most of that work can be automated, and that it's not really very time consuming or expensive to sort and store all the captured text.

The really amazing thing to me is the research and editing that went into making these clips. Excellent work, and great fun to watch.

 

These are an absolute SCREAM! Gin and Juice is my favorite!

 

Most of the archive is from material that was aired prior to closed captioning. And the database also includes information on visual elements included, which are not available in close captioning. Plus close captioning regularly misspells words making it not suitable to searching. When I was there the logging of the archive was not done from close captioning.

 

Poor editor. That must have been excruciating to put together. Well worth the effort, but ouch.

 

Wasn't usually done by editors either. Don't want to use highly paid union people to do stuff like that. Done by lower paid folks in the archive, much of it years after the fact.

 

Not many BriWi fans around here these days. I see how it is.

 

I sure am. I think the guy is brilliantly hilarious.
