We had a brief discussion about this a couple of weeks ago in the Classic Conversation thread and a few of us were saying it was taking over a month to get things from Amazon third parties located in the UK and one other person mentioned MDT (UK classical seller). I've certainly experienced this since about February of this year with packages taking on average 5-6 weeks on a half dozen or more instances. One I'm currently waiting on is going over 7 weeks. This would be by regular UK Royal Mail air mail (does not have tracking).

This specific time it's with Zoverstocks in the UK. With previous packages I've received from them the postmark/customs sticker on the package does show they are being mailed out on time so it is something with the postal system.

When I used to sell a lot on eBay there were occasional periods where packages would disappear into a US Customs black hole, in Queens New York if I recall, I always used tracking and sometimes they would just sit there for five or six weeks, I'd guess something similar is happening with your packages and it's down to some customs policy or issue rather than the post offices at either end.

Having said that it might be worth claiming on the overdue package if you hit eight weeks, that does suggest it's lost.

Welcome to the corporately owned postal systems all in the name of down sizing to benefit the few.

Yep. I ordered a Blu-ray from an Amazon UK third-party seller on 6/19, and got a dispatch confirmation on 6/20 indicating that it should arrive between 6/29 and 7/23. From past experience, I knew that the latter date was far more likely than the former. It's now going on a week later than that and still no sign of it.

I seem to recall the last time I ordered something from an Amazon UK seller, it did take about six weeks to arrive - I was about to send an inquiry when it finally showed up. So I'll probably give it another week or so before contacting the seller. Keeping my fingers crossed that it actually didn't get lost, as it was a disc that recently went OOP and would now cost considerably more than I paid for it to replace.

It wasn't Amazon, but I ordered a book from a UK seller which was shipped on 6/27 and arrived on 7/22.

Even an MDT (England) package took a while to get to New England, a package of 4 CDs took 8 weeks to get here. These are all basic Royal Mail air mail so it's not possible to see where the hangup is occurring.

And waiting for something from Amazon Spain that was shipped on July 11.

As of today, it has been 8 weeks since the package I posted about above was shipped. The fact that yours took 8 weeks as well gives me some hope that mine will show up eventually. I still haven't contacted the seller, but intend to do so this week, if for no other reason than to give them a heads-up that the package still hasn't arrived. It was also sent basic Royal Mail air mail, so I likewise have no way to tell where it has been held up. Not sure the seller will be able to do anything except offer a refund if it never shows up, which is better than nothing, but I'd obviously rather have the item in question.

By way of comparison, I ordered several Blu-ray discs from Arrow Films in the UK on August 9, and it got here in less than a week and a half. I can't remember the exact shipping method they used but I suspect it was different, as I paid GBP 7.50 shipping for a package of 11 discs.

For the Zoverstocks order I mentioned in the OP I contacted them last week and they refunded me. By this point I think it was lost, I asked for a replacement since it was a particularly good price and they just refunded me. I'm wondering if they actually sent the item out since it was priced half of what it normally goes for and if it was a pricing glitch in their algoritm. They currently still have it for sale at the normal price.

Ladies and Gentlemen, time confess. Back in January I mistakenly sent one of our own a CD by land shipment, the cheapest way, to Australia from Canada. Of course he was concerned but I reassured him if the Paypal 6 month window was here I would give him a 100% refund. He trusted me and I'm grateful. It literally took nearly 5 1/2 months to reach him but it finally did. If you use Paypal their 180 day claim window is for real so you can relax.
