Thank God!!!!

 

That show ran it's course years ago.

 

Haven't watched it in last 2-3 years now.

 

If Fox can bring back 24 and The X-Files, there's no reason why American Idol can't return after a few years off and be an event again.

 

Uhhh........ huh?

 

The few episodes Ive watched this season have been pretty bizarre in their desperate attempts to keep viewers. The contestants looked like they came off a Japanese TV show trying to look like anime characters. And it had the 3 worst judges ever.

 

The last time I watched the show I pegged the winner in auditions, then watched as they could not figure out what to do with a retro singer. Taylor Hicks. Cat could blow a mean harp as well.

Hmmm....does this mean other similar reality talent shows will end soon? Wasn't Idol just about the first to air?

 

Whether American Idol was the first depends on one's perspective. It's really not that different than Star Search though, of course, Star Search had lots of different categories and wasn't just focused on (allegedly) finding the best singer.

I doubt that The Voice is going off the air any time soon since it's doing very well in the ratings -- much better than Idol -- even though The Voice has yet to "discover" one new star.

Long overdue. It served it's purpose 13 years ago.

 

we still watch it out of habit with our daughter, its fun harmless lightweight entertainment. but yeah, long past overdue. the show had maybe 10 legitimate stars, probably closer to 5. I can't name the winner from the last 3 years despite watching.

 

But the damage is permanent

 

Good riddance.

So true. I can name runnerups and other people who finished 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. in earlier years than I can the winners from past seasons.


Of the winners, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are the 2 biggest stars who made it big.


Non-winners from earlier seasons who have made it big or made a name for themselves are Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, Clay Aiken, Kellie Pickler, Adam Lambert.

Other non-winners who I can name, because they stuck out (for good reasons) are Bo Vice, Constantine, and Ace Young.

Most if not all those non-winners I named probably could've won American Idol in the last 4 or 5 seasons. LOL


The "worst" winners they've had, IMO, were Taylor Hicks, Lee Dewyze, Chris Allen and Phillip Phillips. Also, even though Ruben Studdard could sing, I thought Clay Aiken was better and should've won that 2nd year.

 

Can we include ol' blue eyes? ...after all, he won a vocal contest too.

After season one, you may be right.

They should bring back William Hung for the finale
