    Hi:

Just wondering if folks wanna post what recorders were used on their favorite records in the 1950s and 1960s. For instance, an Ampex three track was used on many Nat Cole and Frank Sinatra Capitol records. What was the later MR70 used on?

Do you like a particular record due is small part to the sound of the tape recorder?

    Thanks,
    Dan

A lot of US stuff was recorded on Ampex 35o and 351 decks. They were nearly ubiquitous back in the day. Smattering of Crown (great machines, arguably better sounding, but much less reliable than Ampex), Magnecord/ Tandberg/Revox (European and more expensive).
