Whew! For a sec, I thought Lars quit. I've been out of touch with the band's current news for at least a year.

Me too. Because Lars has been too busy SUING his fans for downloading music to worry about playing drums.

Lars is univerally hated by the public, even the bands own fans.

Anyone else like that new Jm J. Bullock look Hetfield is now cultivating?

Maybe that's the new "I'm On The Wagon" look. He does look a bit cleaner now, in fact...

Shouldn't we make this a "Caption This Photo" thread?

And in twisted news of the weird... Jason Newsted has joined Ozzy's band - the two bands effectively having swapped bassists now. ;)

Heh...who'da thunk it?? ;) Funny hearing about him jumping on the Crazy Train. :D

One of Ozzy's drummers now tours with Journey. Dean Casonovo (Castronovo?). He played on Ozzy's album that featured "Perry Mason" and "I Just Want You".

I thought Jason already had a band together? Maybe this is just a temporary gig for a tour?

Ed Bishop Incredibly, I'm still here

Isn't Metallica's bass player situation the same as Spinal Tap's drummer troubles? They all seem to meet the same fate, somehow...death, or they just leave.... The parallels between truth and fiction can get weird sometimes...

I hope this new album is better than Load and Re- Load. They "jumped the shark" so to speak with those albums IMHO.

Newsted is playing in Osbourne's touring band, but is still a full-time member of Voivod (which is playing on the same bill). I'd be surprised if Newsted goes into the studio with Osbourne for his next album, but stranger things have happened before...

I have no idea what's going on with Echobrain, which was Newsted's first post-Metallica band, though. That may end up being just a one-off deal.

Jason's involvement with Echobrain is over. I saw them live and enjoyed the show and the album.

Metallica's new material is going to be harder/faster than the Load-era stuff. No ballads, just some good angry metal!
