I suppose if someone can identify and research the "daughter" (can I put "quotes" in quotes??) and trace her family history, it might reveal some greater confirmation of the truth? Should I put "truth" in "quotes" too?

His "daughter" was an actress. While I love Andy Kaufman and the stuff he did, this kind of stunt is amateur hour, even if his brother was in on it. RIP

Yep, something like this pops up every few years. The guy's dead as a doorknob.

 

The weird thing is that the only people who'd be interested in this rumor are Andy fans whom are by and large too smart to fall for it in the first place.

 

The weird thing is, if he is still alive, you could murder him and get away with it. That's scary.

 

Andy would be very happy that people are still talking about him this many years later.

A good buddy of mine in the 1980s knew him pretty well on the LA comedy scene. I asked him if Kaufman's thing was just a stunt, and he shook his head and said, "I saw him in a wheelchair at a screening last week, and he weighed about 80 pounds. If it's a bit, he's going all the way with it."

 

Exactly. And I'm sure if he had gone and faked his death don't you think he would have come back long ago?

 

I think the woman playing the "daughter" was 24. Andy died in 1984...

 

Of course. But if you run with the premise of this hoax, he was alive in 1989.

 

He really did have the best version of You’ll Never Walk Alone.

 

His skit with the Mighty Mouse theme song was a riot. He was also very funny on Taxi. I did think the bit about wrestling was stupid.

 

So he's been hangin' out with Elvis all these years.

Know why you can't believe it? Cause it's coming from relatives of ANDY KAUFMAN.

 

Another Kaufman moment....reminding us that goofiness is truly missed as much as Kaufman.

 

My wife mentioned this while going to see a band play some music tonight. I told her.....sure....he's still alive after all these years. He and Elvis are hanging out somewhere and flipping burgers for $$$ . What's next? Morrison is still staggering around Paris?
