Any band or artist that everybody seems to like but you just can't get into them?

I guess I'm related to every single one of my friends because we all hate all of that stuff.

    Tom Waits. Tried and tried.

and most of the pop/rock/rnb crap that's been popular in the last 10 years or so:
    Coldplay
    Linkin Park
    One Direction
    Paramore
    Green Day
    Blink 182
    Nickelback
    Limp Bizkit
    PSY
    Beiber
    Beyonce

and especially Lil Wayne! 2 Chainz, Waka Flocka Flame, etc.

    Oh and Jay Z.

What kind of people do you hang out with, who like Linkin Park, Green Day, Blink 182, Nickelback and Limp Bizkit?

What kind of people? Wow. The thread is about popular bands in general. Just look up the top 50 bands on last.fm and most of them are there. But to answer your question, unfortunately some of my friends do in fact adore those bands.

I like earlier Linkin Park, most or all of Green Day, and various Blink 182. But I figure my other tastes kind of excuse or cancel out those. :D

Probably the type of people that don't judge their friends by the music they enjoy.

Kansas - one or two good songs but the rest is painful. IMO of course.

This is my 100th post since I have joined this forum on Jan 14, 2002, so I am going to say it (at the risk of being banned for life):

    The Beatles :hide:

I know they have many more songs and I like some of them but, when I think of the Beatles, the first song that comes to my mind is ob-la-di, ob-la-da and that ruins all the enjoyment for me, most of the time.

I've stopped even bringing that one up, because people usually respond with a shocked "What?! You don't like 'Dust in the Wind'?!" That song is the only one of their catalog that I actively dislike - the rest (or the portions of it that I have heard) is mostly pretty good.

The White Stripes, I've tried, bought a couple of cd's, but I just can't take to them at all.

I've never got into Mumford and Sons because I've thought they were garbage from the minute I heard anything by them!

Wouldn't have occurred to me, because the OP specifies bands "everybody seems to like". While I don't know too many people who dislike Foreigner, I don't know that I've ever heard anyone refer to them as a favorite. For most of us, they're just one of those bands that never seem to be out of rotation on classic rock radio even though we don't actually request their songs.

  21. Grateful Dead.

I do enjoy the occasional song but, beyond that, I don't have an interest.

Rush.mi appreciate their achievements and musicianship but they just never did anything for me.

I know a lot of people who like American Idiot, for example.
I liked Linkin Park when I was a teenager, like most of my peers then.

surprising that you mentioned these particular artists, in that list were many others who deserved to be mentioned a lot more in this context.

Same could be said about Kansas, Dave Mathews, Nickleback etc etc etc....

BTW, didn't we just have a thread like this?
I guess people love to talk about bands they hate almost as much as they like to talk about how rock needs saving.
