Anyone else surprised by a big name actor in a pre-fame role?

Yes. She also appeared in an episode of Providence in 2000 and an episode of The West Wing in 2002.

I saw Judd Hirsch back in 1969 as the lead in a very funny off-Broadway play called Scuba Duba. He did not originate the role; the original star was Jerry Orbach.

Another one: Kate Beckinsale as Hero in Kenneth Branagh's Much Ado About Nothing.

Every time I watch a favorite movie, I scan the the names of the minor roles in the credits for now famous actors who were just getting started then.

It is always fun when you make a "discovery".

    How about these:

Mark Hamill as one of Laurie's boyfriends in "The Partridge Family".

And look for a very young Leonard Nimoy in this episode of "Dragnet":

Maybe this has been already stated (I'm only halfway through the thread) this is hardly a bit part or a "oh look who's in this movie" surprise. Leslie was the main character in the film, (if you discount Robbie the Robot) and the captain of the ship, and I believe he also got equal top billing with Walter Pigeon and Ann Francis in the original movie posters and ads. But he actually got far more screen time than Pigeon and a lot more than Francis.

Haven't read this whole thread but I was surprised to see what I think was Robert Downey Jr.'s first major film, Tuff Turf, turn up on Netflix. I'm intrigued, but not quite enough so to watch it.
