I once listened to a football game on my old speakers and it sounded like I was in the stadium. I lot better than the TV speakers!

Agreed! Speakers in TV sets are crap, manufacturers spend only a few bucks on these paper cones, though the analog TV sound allows for some very nice dynamics and frequency response, cause it´s FM.
I have large panels of electrostatic speakers which I have been turning on while watching TV recently. I´m getting used to it :D
The TV is placed right between the speakers.

Yes, I'm in here to. Nothing, in the home, compares, movie wise, to putting on the system for that full Hi-Fi experience.!:D

    All,

Me too...even the news, weather, etc. all on the big system. Most TV sound is pretty bad but occasionally I hear some decent sound...I hope my post is not "half-assed? :D

    Bob ;)

My wife's stereo is hooked up with the video stuff. I listen to the TV through the good speakers on occasion.

I use Linn Index II speakers hooked up through a JVC SVHS VCR into an Arcam Alpha 3 amp.

It all works just fine and brings everything to life on my Sony TV. Listening through the TV direct is just a non-contest ...

    Happy viewing and listening!

I run my Sony WEGA's stereo audio output into my Denon 3802 7.1 receiver set to Pro Logic II. On well produced material it gives very good results. The speakers in the WEGA are decent but I once ran a set of Cambridge powered PC speakers in their place and for $99.00 it was a big improvement in bass range and imageing. Wife thought the set looked like Mikey Mouse with them on top so back to the computer they went.:D

Yes, I use the VCRs Tuner hooked to the Stereo. Much more enjoyable.

Since I switched to Digital Cable, my TV viewing can be done in Dolby Digital if the program outputs the signal.

I always watch HBO and Showtime with the Full Hi-Fi going, helps with the mood of their programming.

One of the big advantages of having a Home Theater is the fact that not only do movies sound much better (DVD's) but TV viewing is a whole new experience.

Now with DVDA available, the HT really gets a workout!

I have ATT broadband. The reciever has stereo audio out RCA plugs. I like to listen to movies, sports and music throught the big system.

However, I don't listen all of the time, those tubes only have so much life you know.

I had my TV through my main system for awhile but with annoying ass commercials at louder-than-hell levels I finally put the TV back on it's internal speakers. I don't need that idiot telling me I need a Dell coming at me in all directions.

    Telefunken,

Yeah, that's a real pain in the butt. You don't have a mute button?

Yes, but it's been used so much I'd say it's more of a nub than a button.

Your so right, that is the big downside to having better speakers for your TV viewing.

Those damn commercials are way to loud! I also find myself hitting the MUTE button when they come on.
