My WD-TV Live Hub won't play ALAC, only FLAC. I guess I prefer ALAC for now as I like iTunes on Windows for managing my digital music. I like to drag-n-drop my purchased downloads onto iTunes and have it rename the files and put in folders automatically to keep things organized. Is there another program that can do the same drag-n-drop so I can use FLAC instead? IF so, I will switch over to FLAC. I hate having to manually add folders and fix filenames.

I was looking at the Yamaha BD-S677 blu-ray player as it can play ALAC off a network drive.

Hindsight is always 20/20, but why did you buy something that won't play ALAC? These days most devices support ALAC if they support FLAC. This seems like a curious design decision from WD.

Agree. I don't think I've ever come across such a thing.

ALAC (Apple Lossless) is on the list of supported file types here. Is there an update you can apply?

I bought the WD-TV Live Hub a couple years ago. I was 320k mp3 at the time.

As he says, it looks like if you apply a firmware update it will work.

    Last firmware was 2013.

I'll switch to FLAC if there's another media jukebox app that can do what Itunes does

TBH I'd switch your hardware before the software. If you're using the WD TV for other things (and I imagine you are, as it seems designed for movies), maybe just adding an additional device like an Airport Express that allows for AirPlay streaming of ALAC, or the BD player you suggested. Things that play FLAC but not ALAC are pretty rare at this point, and iTunes seems to be giving you what you need.

I ripped everything in ALAC since it's way easier to organize metadata that way.
