  2. Way way way too many to mention. Most of my music collection is complete or nearly complete collections. If I already have everything I am guaranteed to pick up their new record.

    The Strokes

    Eurythmics
    John Fogerty

Kicked off my list based on their last 1 - 2 albums - meaning I'd have to research and listen first before purchasing:-

Record Rotator A vintage/retro-loving sentimental fool

    Australian alternative-rock band The Church.

It used to be like that with Ryan Adams, too.

But his two last albums, 1989 and Prisoner, have made me more wary.
Nonetheless - for various reasons - I have a pretty good feeling that his next album
    will be a keeper.

For me, there are no auto-buys anymore. Once there was, most recently 20 years ago or so. But now, all the bands/artists that were once auto-buys have either disbanded or their output has moved in unlikable directions.

  11. Chris DeVoe

Chris DeVoe RIP Vickie Mapes Williams (aka Equipoise)

    Two:

    Todd Rundgren
    Kate Bush

New Todd Rundgren albums are fairly frequent, and he may be off on something completely bizarre in a genre he's never worked in before, but it will always retain some essential "Todd-ness."

New Kate Bush albums are incredibly rare, and only a great fool would avoid getting a new one.

Mostly I do this only for instrumental guitarists like:

    Mr. Fastfinger
    Alexandra Zerner
    Sithu Aye
    Lari Basilio
    Paul Wardingham
    Nick Johnston
    Plini
    Antonello Giliberto

    ... and a handful others.

I used to do this for some renowned Metal acts like Dream Theater, but I didn't purchase their latest album "The Astonishing".

Outside of that, I research most of the new (metal) stuff based on music and sound quality. I don't buy today's pop music .

Nobody anymore because I've been burned too many times by bad albums. Even my favorite artists get their new albums scrutinized by me reading reviews first. :)

Radiohead, Foo Fighters...from more recent artists...probably gonna continue with Queens of the Stoneage... I thought that Jack White would be another example but I just can't really listen to his latest output.

No one. There used to be bands (The Residents, Ubu, Cow, Can, Boredoms) like that but now I listen first. After a few albums where I realised my favourite band (any of those mentioned) had mutated into something that didn't work for me as it did before, I stopped the blind buying.
