Carrie just won the Oatsdad weakest link game so it must have some fans here.

It was/is pretty amusing seeing the discussion on that board trying to decipher which studio is putting this new BD out. Also amusing that they seem equally split on whether Scream Factory/Shout is awesome or sucks.

Just like here, where grown adult men duke it out 24 hours a day, for 3 days straight, over some Quad mixes.

Never saw the movie, never read the book. Love Stephen King though...

It's a great movie period. I held on to the DVD because the soft looking BR has no extras. Now I can give them both away.

Saw it in the theater, that my senior year of HS. Liked it ( have always had a soft spot for Sissy Spacek ), yet I never bought it. 40 years later, I hope that is corrected.

This is great news. De Palma's work is being re-evaluated and appreciated again thanks to the new documentary about his career (by the way, in Toronto, The TIFF Lightbox is screening the doc plus a retrospective of De Palma's films).

I remember seeing this movie in the theater when I was in college. A friend saw it before I did and he told me to.take a girl to see it. He said she would be all over me at the end of the movie. He was right.

I have this on DVD so unless this has something special added, I probably won't bother.

It is (in my opinion) one of the best horror films ever made. I loved the original and the remake equally and I'm happy it has not been forgotten.

I am a Carrie fan. The original is a "must have" classic! I have & enjoyed the remakes & sequels too.

The documentary was great. I didn't realize how many films I have watched of his.
That said, he has had an uneven career and I really don't think he has any masterpieces in his catalog.

Ah yes, that last scene! I saw it back in the day and the audience just freaked at that final scene!

It would make a good thread topic, if it hasn't already been done... great last scene scares... John Boorman actually got to this one first, at the end of Deliverance, but De Palma did it better.

De Palma's films have some of my favourite endings.

Carrie, obviously. The Fury, Dressed to Kill, Scarface.

Blow Out and Casualties of War have downbeat endings but they are both powerful.

  22. Sounds like a much better outcome then when my friends told me to take a first date to watch Boogie Nights.

That's also the last time I went to see a film without knowing what it was about.

I saw the documentary today. It was interesting. The flashbacks to Hitchcock movies was a bonus. And I never knew about the original ending to "Snake Eyes".

God, Cybill Shepherd looked gorgeous in that film.
